The Inspiration

The Strategic Defense League was first concieved of in the aftermath of the Latao Invasion. The nations of Lamoni, Nedalia, Falcania, and Khazaron saw what happened to the old version of the Latin state as an example of the fate of nations that attempt to go it alone. To prevent such a fate from happening to any of them, the nations concieved of forming a new alliance. They would pledge themselves to the aid of one another and to the freedom of each others people. The need for such an alliance was especially great since the Strategic Alliance of Autocratic States was running unchecked in the region since the death of the Federation of Like-Minded States.

Articles of The Charter

Article I

Each member-nation pledges to protect their fellow members in times of need and render them aid as they see fit. Members are not allowed to attack another member unless they are doing so in self-defense. Any decision to take the League to war must be brought to a vote by the member-nations and succeed by a majority. Those who may not wish to go to war may support the effort in some other way than by the sending of armed persons into conflict.

Article II

At all times does the Strategic Defense League recognize the sovereignty of its member-nations. The League cannot tell its member-nations how they should conduct their affairs.

Article III

In regards to Article II, those nations that conduct their affairs in such a manner as to make themselves a liability to the league, can be expelled from the League. Such an act must be brought to a vote before the member-nations and succeed by a majority thereof.

Article IV

The SDL requires that during times of conflict, in which the entire League is involved, that the member-nations share their intelligence gathered. This is done so that the members may form a more effective fighting force against their enemies, and to reduce the risk of two or more nations unintentionally “stepping on each others toes”.

Article V

The SDL shall be headed by a council of the member-nations. Each nation may send a representative to that council. All nations have an equal voice in the council, with senior members garnering no more power than newly joined ones.
