Sturms, officially, The Constitutional Monarchy of Sturms, is a country in StormKingdom region, occupying the east portion of the mountains of Decia. The mountains of Decia serves as border between Sturms and The Blindmen, in the west, Sturms and Saint Jacques, in the south, and Sturms and Liechtensburg, in the east. The Mágnusson sea is the border north and west of the country.

History

The mountains of Sturms were populated by Former Lands emigrants, about 10000 BC, who discovered mines all over the territory. The primitive sturmsians also made terraces to have agricultural products; the economy developed as the social system, and in 1500 BC we have evidence of a Kingdom, based in the mystical powers of the King. In 554 BC, in the Battle of Desnissia, the king Nacodusobonor II contained the advance of the Ancient Former Lands Empire, and mantained the region called Turmsitia Decia controlled by his fist. The king Nacodusobonor II also discovered and occupied the southeast region, the actual The Blindmen, and baptized it as Nocaodia. This period is called the Empire of Turmsitia, and kings became emperors, with power to kill the people if they wanted to. In 876 AD, the disembarcations of vikings in the coast (they saw storms in the mountains, it's where the name of the country came from) alerted the emperor Sargisnior IV. The raid destroyed many cities, and the viking army defeated the Turmsitia Imperial Army in the battle of Hishaima, in 887 AD. Sargisnior IV could escape, and a new army faced the viking's army in the battle of Poitrinse, in 894 AD. The battle of Poitrinse became the final defeat of the Empire of Turmsitia, and the emperor Sargisnior IV flew away to Nocaodia, where he burned all cities, constraining all people to keep into their homes. Finally, he commited suicide. The vikings, seeing the land burning, abandoned Nocaodia, and did not returned, even, when Harold Giestsee took control of the Nocaodia and founded The Blindmen, in 1415 AD, the king of Sturms said that "Sturms ends where the mountains of Decia ends". In 1006 AD christianism is introduced in the country. The vikings sustained a feudal hierarchy, based on agriculture. The Protestant reform, introduced in the country by Erik Leifsson (who traduced the Bible, fixing the Icelandic language as it is talked today) signified a change in the government, and the king had new powers, starting the despotism. In 1809, the social agitation in all countries in StormKingdom led to a revolution. The king Magnus V decided to negotiate, seeing that even the Monarchy could be in trouble, and the Constitution of Sturms, standing until today, was born, as Magnus V resigned many powers to the Parliament, created by the new Constitution.

Politics

The main political party in Sturms is the Social Democracy, leaded by Jan-Magnus Ohlsson, the prime minister. Other political parties are the National Union (NU), right; Communist Party (CP), left, and the Green Party (GP), left, and the Popular Party, middle-right. The Social Democracy actually have an union Cabinet with the Popular Party, and passed some laws in order to liberalize the market.

The king is chief of State, but has only protocolar functions. The king is Christian XII, from the dinasty of Mágnusson.

National Symbols

The pigeon, the national animal, is the symbol of the peace of the country with the country; as political peace and social peace. This is reflected also in the national motto, In peace we trust. The national flower is the edelweiss.

Religion

A great majority of the people is protestant, of the National Sturms Church (about 84% of the population). The inmigration had brought also new religions, as buddhists (6%), Armenian Apostolic Church (4%), and Orthodox (3%). The percentage of catholics is very low, due to the massive exodus to Saint Jacques in the XVIth century.
