The Dictorial Republic of Sumer (Sumerian: Urubarra Lugalmin) is a modern developed country located primarily in the Middle East. Sumerian territories include areas within Central and Northern America and the Carribean, as well as Europe, Africa and parts of Southern Asia. Sumer is an active member in the IADF, often referred to as Dostanuot Loj.

The people of Sumer, known as Sumerians, are an odd mixture of socially conservative and liberal ideals. Sumerians generally believe in the right of a person to live their own life as they please when it does not cause harm or distress within the group. Sumerian pollitical decsions generally reflect this ideal, with the ultimate culmination of this being the foreign policy which regards anything outside the state as a whole to be "unworthy of Sumerian concern".

Created around 8,000 BCE by a now forgotten king of Uruk as a way to consolodate his power, the Nation of Sumer underwent several massive military expansions in it's first 7,000 years of opperation. By 1,000 BCE the expansion had reached epic size, conquering the entire middle east, and began to slow down as the people saw no more reason for conquering their neighbors. This military expansion died out completely by 1550 CE when influence of the Taino people, whom Sumerians had been trading with for approxemetly 200 years, caused the people to adopt a more passive approach to the world. Major international events became rare but prominent, including a victory over Spain at the beginning of the 1500's and the incorporation of the Taino "nation" into the newly formed Republic. The last major territorial expansion occuried durring the First World War, when Sumerian forces helping their Brittish, French and Russian allies swept into South Eastern Europe and took posession of the former nations of Austro-Hungary, Greece, and Yugoslavia as well as others. The decades that followed saw the systematic extermination of the indiginous peoples of the newly conqured areas by order of the then current Dictator, who was removed from office by the Republican Gaurd too late to save the masses affected from genocide.

Today Sumer maintains a small, but highly trained, well equipped, and exceptionally well funded armed force primarily for self defense. The nation itself has taken a less active stance in the international scene, concentrating more on domestic problems then international ones.

The People and Culture of Sumer:

The People

The Sumerian people, as a whole, are predominantly of the Sumerian ethnicity, however the population includes sizeable minorities of Taino, and Arab peoples. The smallest minority, labled as "other", includes European, African, and Asian peoples who have either survived the brutal expansion of Sumer in isearly years, or have immigrated in recent years.

Life expectancy is slightly over 100 years among healthy Sumerians with the assistance of the expansive healthcare system and a healthy eating mentality when compared to other nations.

Social Responsibility

The deeply held belief of all Sumerian citizens that a state is responsible to it's people, and that people are responsible to eachother, is culminated in a Social Responsibility unique to Sumer. Social Responsibility includes a completly nationalised healthcare system which provides all medical and dental services to citizens and legal residents for free. Visitors, with a valid Travel Visa, are also afforded free medical care for the durration of their visit.

The concept of Social Responsibility is also prominent within the nations economic base. All major industries and services are nationalised and run for the benifiet of the people.

The Culture

Sumerian culture is highly influenced by the religious beliefs of the people. The people are known for their freindly but semi-formal way of interaction with strangers and their fast accecptance of strangers. However freindly Sumerians become with others they are always straight and to the point. A persons freedom to choose how they exist is a value held as sacred amongst the Sumerian population, when those choices are not to the detriment of the social group.

Science and Logic rule every day life. The people are welecoming of new ideas but insist on a logical way of viewing most things. Decsions are made and beliefs are solidified or changed within Sumer through the process of a logical debate, at all levels of government and society.

Music and arts are not new concepts to the Sumerian people, and infact have a rich history withi the nation. However, international music, movies, food, and literature have become a large factor in the lives of many people.
