General Information

The Swilla, originally known as the Swilatian Currency Unit, is the national currency of Swilatia, and is equal to 2 NationStates Dollars. It is a very powerful currency even though it is only used in Swilatia. A swilla is divided into 100 pence.

Symbol

The Swilla symbol was originally simply SW, but now the symbol is a squared-out S and a Squared-out W fused toghter. the middle line of the W and the left side of the S are not to be fused, but are to align. the pence does not have a symbol, so pence is written as a decimal, for example 15 pence would be written as (swilla symbol)0.15. The right linte of the S and the right line of the W are supposed to be one line. A swilla symbol is not considered one if it does not folow these guidelines.

History

The Swilla was not always the currency of Swilatia. It was actcually introduced during the the Swilatian Revolution by the revolutionary movement, to replace the Swilatian złoty, which was the currency of Swilatia during the monarchy, and considered at that time to be a symbol of the monarchy. The currency was originally known as the Swilajska Jednostka Waluty (Swilatian Currency Unit), but it was informally known to Swilatians as the Swilla, and in 1927 Swilatians voted to have the name of the currency changed to "Swilla".

Coins

the swilla has the following coins:

the obverse of a Swilatian 20 pence coin
  • 1 pence
  • 2 pence
  • 5 pence

  • 2 swillas (obsolete, replaced by banknote in 1971)
  • 5 swillas (obsolete, replaced by banknote in 1971)

The 1, 2, and 5 pence coins are all silver, and the 10, 20, and 50 pence coins conist of a silvver area the same size as the smaller coins, and a gold ring around it, possibly to represent a zero.

Anti-counterfeit features

  • On the obverse, the value is printed on a holographic-metallic strip, not just on the paper.
  • On the obverse of all swilla notes, the value is printed with microscopic text, but appears as a faint stripe. This feature is known by many Swilatians as the "false stripe"
  • On reverse, the value (in both official languages of Swilatia) is written with raised ink.
  • There are many more anti-counterfeit features, but the full list is classified information, so as to prevent counterfeiters from finding out.

Usage

The currency is used in all of Swilatia. While most places in Swilatia will only accept payment in Swillas, stores in large swilatian cities will have special cashier desks where foreign currencies are accepted, but you are likely to be paid back in Swillas even at those desks, as your payment at tose place is quickly exchanged by the cashier. However, such special cashier desks are not found in most stores, but currency exchange areas are easy to find in all but the must rural areas of swilatia.
