The T-12 'Tangent' Main Battle Tank is a new addition to the Asgarnian military's armor force. It is one of the most capable tanks ever produced by Asgarnieu, and is set to replace certain other models of main battle tank in the fleet.

Armor

The T-12 is fitted with upgraded RHA armoring, known as Type-4 Rolled Homogenous Armor. It is also fitted with Chobham-A Armor. The underside of the tank, which is especially vulnerable to today's more powerful landmines is reinforced with a special armor. The top to the turret is also reinforced, giving it some protection from Top-Attack Munitions.

Armament

After realizing the need for a more modular armament system on today's tanks, the designers of the T-12 decided to upgrade the tank, making it much more powerful.

The main gun was upgraded from the proposed 120mm Smoothbore - which is used on nearly every modern tank today - to the more powerful MTC-3GR 125mm Smoothebore Main Tank Cannon. It has improved range, penetrating power, and explosive power.

There were 3 machineguns designed to be placed on the T-12, however, designers found this to be ineffective. There is one 14.5x114mm TG-18MG Machine Gun coaxially placed to the left of the main gun. There is also a 7.62x51mm machine gun on the top of the turret, for use in close urban situations where the turret may not be able to swing around. The top-mounted machinegun can be replaced with a 40mm grenade laucher or another 14.5x114mm machinegun.

The designers of the T-12 had unanimously agreed to place at least 1 anti-tank missile launcher on the tank, to afford the tank extra protection. They agreed upon the HSM-1 Anti-Tank KE Missile. The HSM-1 is a very fast kinetic energy missile designed to deliver a HEAT or HESH warhead to a tank as fast as possible. The missile travels at nearly hypersonic speeds, and is capable of destroying most modern tanks. The tank can also mount a Javelin Top-Attack Missile Launcher, instead of the HSM-1. The rocket launcher is mounted on the left-hand side of the turret, and can move up and down independantly.

The T-12 is also outfitted with 2 19-Tube 2.75 Inch Hydra Unguided Rockets. They are capable of destroying buildings, and lightly armored vehicles. They are mounted on the right-hand side of the turret, and can move up and down independantly.

Defenses

The T-12 is outfitted with 2 5-Tube 45mm Smoke Grenade Launchers, and is also able to carry the SGM-3V Smoke Generator. It is also completely N/B/C safe, as well as EMP hardened. The ammunition bay is protected by blast doors in case of a successful attack that penetrates the turret.

Electronics

The 'Tangent' is equipped with Nightvision and Thermal visual systems, and a special computer system that targets automatically, and can cycle through possible targets. The T-12 is equipped with UHF radio systems, and can support the A/SEQ-33G Land Vehicle Electronic Jamming Device.
