Introduction

The T-1 Scorpion Main Battle tank is a land combat system featuring state of the art of armor protection, lethality, firepower, and maneuverability which was designed by Phoenix Dynamix for The Phoenix Milita's army.

Weapons

The T-1 carries one (1) 140mm rifled main cannon and there is enough room for 60 assorted rounds DU, HEAT, SABOT, STAFF rounds and TOW-4 anti-tank missiles. One three-barreled smoke grenade discharger is fitted on each side of the turret and you want to put conventional grenades in the launchers(takes HE grenades up to 40mm). A smoke screen can also be laid by an engine operated system. There is the option of two 81mm mortars on the sides of the tread, to be operated by the commander. There are (2) M-99 missile mounts which contain 8 Hellfire MMW IIs and 40 M261 2.75 inch hydra rockets. For defense there are also 4 stingers mounted on the back of the turret, behind the commander's station. The commander sits in a fully armored mini-turret which is equipped with six periscopes(providing 360 degree view), the .50 cal machine gun *which can be swapped out with a 15.5mm MG) and he can operate the M-99 systems, the stingers , and designate targets for the main gun by using the CITV system. The Commander's Independent Thermal Viewer (CITV) provides the him with independent stabilized day and night vision with a 360 degree view, automatic scanning, automatic target selection for the main gun and back-up fire control. There is one coaxial 7.62mm M-240B machinegun that can be operated by the gunner, a second 7.62mm is mounted on a skate mount on the other side and is operated by the loader. Even the driver has his own machinegun to operate if need be, an 11mm MG-22 SAW is mounted in the very front of the tank also on a skate mount. All 7.62mm machine guns can be swapped with 11mm (.450 Phoenix) machine guns and the driver can have a minigun or 40mm GMG instead if he wishes.

Engine

The 1700 hp PD XM-1700 Diesel-Electric Hybrid engine was created specifically for the T-1 Scorpion and features a fuel cell battery back up for emergencies such as if the diesel fuel tank is hit and needs to be sealed off. While its top speed is 78mph it is governed at 48 mph to save fuel. It features easy access panel to key components and it can be worked on with a minimum of tools as there are built in drivers on many bolts for quick access to preform maintenance or repairs. The engine compartment is protected against HEAT projectiles with non-explosive reactive armor.

Armor and Protection

The T-1 Scorpion main battle tank incorporates a new type of carbon composite encased depleted uranium armor(The RHA value of which is estimated at 2,000mm at the strongest and 800mm at the weakest) all around. The side skirts of the treads are made of high density carbon composite, and plated with a thin coating of silver(looks cool)although ceramic plates can be used in place of the silver. Armored bulkheads separate the crew compartment from the fuel tanks and ammo storage area. The top panels of the tank will to blow outwards in the event of penetration by a HEAT projectile or detonation of the M-99 missile mounts. It is capable of being completely sealed for underwater travel and is protected against nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) warfare through standard Phoenix Dynamix NBC systems. All electronics are shielded from EMP in Faraday cages where possible. The Full Spectrum Active Protection Close-In Shield or FCLAS is an option for the T-1 as it is with most PD armored vehicles and ships. The Phoenix Dynamix FCLAS features a canister loading system and fires from a single barrel. The FCLAS system uses 4 or more canister launchers tied into a combined RADAR/LADAR sensor system, computer controlled this system will detect and calculate the approach speed of a projectile, like a cruise missile, anti-tank missile or even a free-flight rocket. It then lobs the FCLAS projectile out at a specified trajectory, again computer controlled. The round bursts in the air at exactly the right moment, ensuring 80% of the time the warhead of the incoming missile explodes.
