The T-8 Sprite is a light tank designed by Phoenix Dynamix. The T-8 was designed to provide light tank support to armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles. Since the Sprite is capable of keeping up with faster moving Cavalry units it is also ideal for convoy escort and recon duties.

Variants

T-8 Sprite

The original T-8 Sprite was designed for the Marines of The Phoenix Military. The goal was to give the Marines a fast moving, lightweight alternative to the comparatively heavy T-3 Warrior main battle tank. It was primarily intended to be transported via LST or LCAC along with armored personnel carriers, tactical vehicles, and/or infantry during beach landings.

T-8A1 Sprite

The T-8A1 Sprite features explosive reactive armor and an alternative machinegun layout.(6.66mm MG + 40mm GMG coax, .450 commander's weapon). Almost all T-8 tanks in The Phoenix Milita's inventory were converted to this standard after initial delivery, but the base T-8 is still the most commonly exported variant.

T-8A2 Super Sprite

The T-8A2 Super Sprite is a combat evolved variant which features heavier conventional armor and different weapons package. (15.5mm Coax, 6.66mm commander's weapon 2 SA-29 SAM launchers in place of 2 ATGM launchers) It has roughly the same protection as the ERA-enhanced T-8A1, but without the ERA hazard, infantry can work more closely with the Super Sprite. Also, a number of T-8A2s were fitted with 105mm howitzers for export.

T-8A3 Sea Sprite

The T-8A3 Sea Sprite is a custom amphibious modification of the base T-8 requested by Gataway. It is inspired by the DD tanks of World War II and is capable of swimming across water obstacles of any depth. The T-8A3 is the lightest variant and in addition to being amphibious it can be airdropped. It does however have the poorest armor rating of all variants, but this can be remedied by upgrading it to near T-8A1 specs after landing with appliqué armor and ERA panels.
