The TJB-1 Mandrake was one of the earliest military aircraft produced by the late-blooming military aeronautics industry of Tahar Joblis. It is a lightweight 2 man bomber, armed fairly anachronistically with swivel mount 20mm cannon and light anti-aircraft rockets. Its small payload and relatively short operational range limit its utility. The Mandrake is used to paradrop UBUs and sometimes normal paratroops. Due to its relative lack of utility as a strike bomber or long range strategic bomber, it has declined substantially since the introduction of the more nimble and marginally less expensive TJF-5 Albatross (as well as the highly capable TJB-2 Magus), but remains in service.
