Overview

The Samson TP-4 was designed as a two stage hydrazine propelled 650 mm “heavy” super cavitating torpedo.

The TP-4 is the standard 2 stage super cavitating torpedo manufactured for the ZMN. It was developed to counter the emergence of increasingly effective sub surface defence systems and other super cavitating weapons. It is typically fitted to newer ZMN sub surface vessels such as the ZMN Ray Class SSN or the ZMN Stingray, but can be often found as the attack section coupled to the TIW Rhapsody cruise torpedo system.

The two stage system allows a relatively quite launch with the suprcavitating system engaging up to 14,000 metres from the launch point.

The Modificaion 2 created for the ZMN's new horizons program switched to 02 LH2 as the primary fuel source for an increased range of 44,000 metres.
