Talk:Battleship

While preparing my article on the Royal Iansislean Navy, I discovered that this article needs quite a bit of work. I found myself cringing at several times reading the history system (the complete exclusion of HMS Warrior and consistent misspelling of "Yamato" were particularly painful), but not nearly as much as I did at the utterly unprofessional and informal style ("Happy Cannon Cocking?" Is this an encyclopedia or a porno?). On a more personal note, I'd like to see an area speaking about the use of battleships by non-modern navies, such as Iansisle.

This is mostly a warning of edits to come. I wouldn't like it if people corrected my articles without giving me the chance to defend them, and I shan't do so here. True. When making potentially controversial edits especially. However as you can see I only made lay-out improvements and added a few templates which simply belong there i.e. something nobody could possibly disagree with IMO. I'd have given a warning if I had touched the battleship content.

Speaking of this content (and see - here is my talk page warning) is it really a good idea to cite detailed things like specific battles? It seems to be a bit of a RL-stub like this. Perhaps a more generalistic first chapter would serve the purpose of describing the Battleship better seeing as there is a 'big' wikipedia link already at the top of the page. I think that this article was a RL stub before I got to it. I simply changed it to a reasonably accurate RL stub. If you think that the article would be improved by deleting the RL history of the evolution of battleships, feel free to do so. As it stands, I think it is a reasonably small and concise summary (which is why I linked to battles, so I wouldn’t be tempted to go into extensive detail. Iansisle 20:15, 6 Jan 2005 (GMT)
