Talk:Bryn Shander

  • "Later, when the Concordat collapsed, New Haven and Bryn Shander salvaged what they could and formed the Hermes Alliance."

I feel this line to be completely biased in favour toward the user with the NationStates account of the same name as the nation page, and against the entity of the Concordat, and therefore contrary to the Neutral Point of View / NPOV guidelines. Therefore at 11:00, 6 September 2005 I edited the line to;

"Later, when the Concordat democratically ejected them both, New Haven and Bryn Shander formed the Hermes Alliance between themselves."

As I was of the sincere belief this was the process of events. How-ever, at 11:04, 6 September I edited it to:

"Later, when the Concordat democratically ejected Bryn Shander, New Haven left and followed Bryn Shander, and they both paired up to form the Hermes Alliance between themselves.", because of new data I had just been informed of and wished to keep the entry up-to-date and factually correct, while enforce NPOV for both parties without favour. However, at 14:40, 6 September 2005 the entry was reverted back to "Later, when the Concordat collapsed, New Haven and Bryn Shander salvaged what they could and formed the Hermes Alliance." by the user Nightbane with the line; (It's not democratic if not everyone gets to vote.) in the history page. I therefore personally questioned the reversion to the original, suspected NPOV breeching text, when removal of the " democratic " context could've sufficed.

Since then, I've been informed by other parties that all active members who could vote did actually vote, but that is beside the point for now ...

In response, I edited it to "Later, when the Concordat ejected Bryn Shander, New Haven left too, and both formed the Hermes Alliance." at 13:53, 7 September 2005. This was done again to enforce the NPOV guidelines, and present an unbiased, factual version of the purposely brief account of events. However, at 15:52, 7 September 2005 it was again reverted back to the line "Later, when the Concordat collapsed, New Haven and Bryn Shander salvaged what they could and formed the Hermes Alliance." by the user Nightbane. This time with no explaination being given to me or the community.

In the interest of preventing some sort of "edit war" from developing while I'm trying to resolve what I think is an NPOV breech, I am airing the situation for feed-back by the community and the user (Nightbane) in question, if they can be as bothered to do so as they seem can be bothered enough to reverse my edits within mere hours of them being made.

My edits were made under different IPs due to the dynamic nature of my IP. This United State 11:48, 8 September 2005 (GMT)

  • I have decided to add an NPOV dispute sticker to the page, in light of no response from the user, despite their previously speedy efforts in editing. I hope this will maybe better bring it to their attention. This United State 14:34, 9 September 2005 (GMT)

I am not well-informed about the nature of the dispute in question, but I feel it is important for the user who has removed TUS' edits to the page to make a comment on this discussion already. If the user cannot or will not defend their edits, I think it would be appropriate for TUS to put them back in. --Pantocratoria 06:29, 15 September 2005 (GMT)

POV

I made another attempt at a more factual account of events as well as some misc. changes. --|Knoot|KNOOtalk 12:46, 15 September 2005 (GMT)

Good, but I think it only fair and above all else, accurate, to note that if this page can claim it was a "coup" to the point of view of the nation of the same page name, then perhaps it should also note in those brackets, something like, " - despite counter/contrary claims by the organisation involved that it was a motion carried out by democratic vote by all eligable members as allowed by the rules of the organisation ". Considering, POV aside, that was the actual process of the event and surely it has just as much a need to be "air-time"? This United State 05:27, 7 October 2005 (GMT)
