Talk:Charter of the Triumvirate of Yut

Hello. It's Vrak. I feel that singling out the Order of the Seraphim as copying your charter, "verbatim" is a bit unfair since you only have the Order mentioned in your external links. Why not include the rest of these organizations that also copied your charter "verbatim" as well?

While in the beginning it is true that we copied some parts of the charter, you are impying that we copied it all. That is simply not true. Like all documents, including yours, it has evolved.

Perhaps it would be better to say that the ToY Charter has been an inspiration for other organization in their foundation.

edit: I might have inadvertendly screwed up your image in the main body. Sorry about that.

Sketch here

As the one who "authored" the OotS charter, I think its a bit biased to say that it was copied "verbatim". I will fully admit that I used the ToY charter as the primary basis for structure. But to say "copied verbatim" implies that the two charters are exactly alike. I think both parties would find the idea distasteful that we somehow have the same principles and ideals. If one were to simply peruse the documents, they could be led to believe that they are the same. However, the similarity ends as soon as one reads them. Different goals, different beliefs, different structures. Of course, on the other hand, there are several parts which are near copies; I saw no reason to improve on the ideas put forth in those sections.

I'll try to direct Scolo here when he comes on to IRC, so you can sort this out. Btw, please add your signature when leaving messages on talk pages. You can do this by inserting ~~~ (3 tildes) at the end of your message, or if you want to include a timestamp, ~~~~ (4 tildes). -- Crimmer 18:32, 6 Oct 2004 (GMT)

Understood. I'm still getting used to all this Wiki stuff. Vrak 06:32, 7 Oct 2004 (GMT)

I'll try to hook up with Scolo and Sketch on IRC but my time zone is GMT+9 (South Korea) Vrak 06:43, 7 Oct 2004 (GMT)

I had a talk with him, and he's cool with the current article version. I'll remove the NPOV note now. -- Crimmer 21:59, 7 Oct 2004 (GMT)

Ah, yes. We've had this argument before. I know you thought I nicked it and so you nicked it from me. Too bad the operating assumption was false.

Oh well. "Verbatim" was perhaps harsh. I stand by the "copying" statement.

Just like the British I'm sure really care if the Americans "copied" the Magna Carta.
