"Retentionist" and "Abolishionist"

I think these categories are perjorative and assume that the 'default' state is to have a death penalty. Praetonia has imposed, not imposed and outlawed the death penalty at various times throughout its history. Thus, as Praetonia currently imposes the death penalty for certain crimes, it would not be "retentionist" as the death penalty has actually been imposed by statue, not "retained" from some mythical default that has otherwise been removed. If others agree I would like to change the categories to something more neutral. Praetonia 11:45, 20 January 2007 (GMT)

Those are the words used by Amnesty International, which can hardly be accused of being pro-death penalty. Surely early Praetonian society had executions? Aridd 01:09, 21 January 2007 (GMT)
