Oppose

  1. This may have been a very interesting war, and it certainly is a nice article, but I do not see what makes it so particularly worthy of being featured. This page is 43 kilobytes long. Under current article size guidelines, articles that exceed 32KB are considered to be too long because of technical limits of seldom-used old browsers and slow Internet connections along with some stylistic considerations. --|Knoot|KNOOtalk 08:51, 2 November 2005 (GMT)
  2. It was a good piece, but there are a lot of grammatical errors. The most obvious is the first sentence - it's a fragment. I'm probably one of the biggest naggers about spelling and grammar, though, so I don't know - I just don't feel comfortable with the essay's current structure. The written detail's fine, but it exceeds the size guidelines and I would like to see maybe a more illustrative side to the article. Depth's one thing, but depth on many levels makes articles even better. In war articles, specifically, people have got to feel part of the action - and one picture of a nuclear explosion is not going to do that. --Pacitalkia 20:39, 12 November 2005 (GMT)

Neutral

  1. Why is the character infobox used? It incorrectly puts the article in Category: Characters. If that was fixed I'd definitely vote for it, as it's a great article. Ceorana|Φ 00:03, 21 October 2005 (GMT)
  2. I don't know much about the actual war, but the article seems to be long clumps of text, with few links and little else to make it visually appealling. If it can become less like a history essay, I'd support it.Gruen2alk 09:04, 2 November 2005 (GMT)
  3. No war box? Nevertheless, good article. If there's a bit of clean up and the possibility of the inclusion of a war box I'll certainly throw my support behind this. Macabees 02:59, 1 January 2006 (GMT)
  4. This is a very nice article, overall, but it does need a warbox and it needs more pictures and imaginative use of wikilinks (ie. wikilinks linking to things other than nation pages), because otherwise there is way too much solid text. If that gets done, you'd have my support. Praetonia 15:07, 14 February 2006 (GMT)

Comments/Questions

To answer Ceorana's question: it's because I'm not knowledgeable enough with editing Wikis to make a generic Infobox for it. If you could help me out with this, I would greatly appreciate it. What did you think of the article? Halberdgardia | HALTalk 17:14, 1 November 2005 (CST)

To address Gruenberg's comment: if you think about it, aren't most encyclopedic entries "long clumps of text" and rather history-essay-like? I apologize for the relative lack of images, but you have to understand: no definitive pre-war map of Saharistan was ever created, and I have no idea what al Zaraqwi or Myers look like. I suppose I could add some images of, say, Baghdad and the oil fields burning, if that would spice it up a little. If someone could please enlighten me on how to create a generic Infobox to replace the Character Infobox currently in place, I'll change that and create new ones for a few more pictures. Halberdgardia | HALTalk 13:03, 12 November 2005 (CST)

To address Knotoss' concern: so, just to clarify, your opposition to the article is solely based on the length, not any problems with the content of the article itself? What would you suggest I do to shorten it? I was thinking that perhaps I could move the post-war events, such as the reconstruction and the later "Liberation of Saharistan," to separate articles, and make them "Related Links" to this article. Would that improve the article's standing? Halberdgardia | HALTalk 13:07, 12 November 2005 (CST)

To address all the visual people, i will put some more images and a war infobox in. Willink
