Things we need (maybe)

  1. Fris's stickied post. At the very least, we need to have a link to it, I think we need to put more of the essence of that post into the about section if not copying it outright.
  2. Sub-basement mutants - no mention of them anywhere. Plus I miss being on B14, but fine - something to worry about later.

Comments, other ideas, should I go ahead and write it myself? --Forgottenlord 19:40, 24 February 2006 (GMT)

I'll add in Fris's link. Gruen2alk 19:53, 24 February 2006 (GMT)

Is there an "official" list of floors? If there is, we should probably link to it. Also, we probably need notes on how it is way overcrowded, the building administration, and maybe a link to the Hualein thread, which contains a large discussion of it. –|–– Ceo \ rant 01:52, 25 February 2006 (GMT)

This is the closest thing to an official list that exists. Flibbs who controls the "UN Building Mgmt" account has basically taken over as the decider of who's where on the directory - with consideration to requests (almost always granting them unless it messes up his list). He's basically just taken what's been discussed both IC and OOC on the UN forum and related off-forum pages where the matter has been discussed, put together a general basis of how it would look, and then adapted it as more and more opinions came in. When Jey started up this page, there was a rush to get Flibs list up - and with a few small changes (mainly, a bunch of sub-basements disappeared - it used to be I was on B14 with UNOG on B13 and a lot of vacated space in-between), but it was decided that for a building that's officially overflowing from the number of delegates who need offices, it just wasn't a credible situation with all that blank space. --Forgottenlord 05:14, 27 February 2006 (GMT)

Broom closet of the Tank House added with a pic, and 1 line added to the introduction about the discovery of the 69 3/4 floor Love and esterel 01:14, 12 April 2006 (GMT)

Incorrect information regarding the architect of the building removed. UN Building Mgmt 21:50, 18 April 2006

RP Notice

OK, sorry, but it really bugs me when players "barge" into this "RP" (and for all intents and purposes, this is an RP) and just assume that their nations' offices are on such and such a floor, and edit the page accordingly. Seems a bit presumptuous for my taste, so I've been removing the offenders, and just added a request that nations clear desired office space with UN Building Mgmt. If ya wanna play, ya gotta play by the rules. So, is this notice necessary? Or am I just being a prick? Thoughts? Anyone?

I've added a couple threads about UN office-space roleplay to the Additional Materials section. Also, the intro seems a little dull; I'll Kennify it later, barring any objections ... going once ... going twice ... Omigodtheykilledkenny 15:04, 12 March 2006 (GMT)

Sounds good. You might want to clarify how one "clears" office space w/ UNBM. Also, I would suggest putting the RP notice in comment tags (<!-- Please do not add an office to this list unless you have cleared it with UN building mgmt --> or something like that), so it doesn't clog up the page. Ceo \ rant \ rave 18:23, 12 March 2006 (GMT)
I took care of that. Ceo \ rant \ rave 19:19, 12 March 2006 (GMT)
Forgive my ignorance, but what are comment tags? What do they do? Are they supposed to be invisible? Because the comments simply disappeared when you added them. I took them out because I thought they may not be working right. Please help. Omigodtheykilledkenny 21:25, 13 March 2006 (GMT)
Comment tags make the text a "comment" that is visible only when editing. I used them at CHDI for a purpose that they are used here: to ask people to only add their nation if it is "official". I like to use them rather than displaying the text, because not adding your nation really has nothing to do with the content of the page. Ceo \ rant \ rave 22:41, 13 March 2006 (GMT)
Well, I added it to the actual entry because I figured it would be helpful if the front page featured a link to the site where you can request an office. It really wouldn't help anybody if it was hidden in the edit page, because I don't know how many people would actually see it. Sorry. Omigodtheykilledkenny 03:52, 17 March 2006 (GMT)
It's not a big deal; my only concern was that it looked very obnoxious (bold + italic + brackets = AHHH!). I've toned it down some without compromising the message. Hope that's all right. Ceo \ rant \ rave 04:46, 17 March 2006 (GMT)
Removing the brackets, bold marks, etc., is fine. I'll get around to livening up the intro later. Omigodtheykilledkenny 02:42, 18 March 2006 (GMT)
Apparently the "clear office locations with UNBM" sign doesn't always work, I noticed that Meame UN Mission added themselves and UNBM hasn't been asked at all.Flibbleites 19:52, 28 March 2006
We'll just have to keep givin' these people the ol' heave-ho, then. We gave them fair warning. Omigodtheykilledkenny 18:32, 1 April 2006 (GMT)
Meame UN Mission readded after clearing it with UNBM. Flibbleites 15:21, 8 April 2006
OK, intro updated and appropriately embellished; UN DEFCON offices ("secret underground bunker") moved to 4th Basement Floor. Title changed to "UN Headquarters." Objections?
I don't know, it's not very secret if it's listed in the directory now is it? :D Flibbleites 15:23, 8 April 2006
I still think that the 26th floor was a good place to hide something that was referred to as "underground"... :D St Edmund 05:20, 12 April 2006

So, forgive my ignorance, does one add one's own office to the list, having checked in with the UNBM? Or does the UNBM add them? I had assumed the latter, but seeing as I jumped to conclusions once about this and was wrong, I figured I should ask... Dhaana 02:48, 29 August 2006 (GMT)

Usually I'll add them, but if someone who's obtained my approval can get in and add themselves before I can, I'm not going to complain.UN Building Mgmt 06:45, 29 September 2006 (GMT)

8 or 14 basements?

Should we expand to the 14 basement model? Forgottenlord 09:07, 14 May 2006

Go down too deep and you might find a city of Invisible Wabbits... Simreeve 06:21, 30 March 2007

Pic of the UN Headquarters

I've noticed for a little bit that the picture of the UN headquarters isn't "working" (if thats the right word) 2 questions 1.) is it just my computer or is this happening to everyone else and 2.) should we fix or just let it be? Cookesland 16:37, 14 June 2007

We should find a working one, and upload it so we don't lose it again. (Despie what the horribly outdated image tutorial might have you thinking, uploads do work. --swilatia 13:31, 16 June 2007 (GMT)
A new image is being discussed on the UN forum. If you have something to contribute to the topic, put up. Otherwise, shut up. Omigodtheykilledkenny 23:37, 14 July 2007 (GMT)
Does suggesting the image be uploaded to the wiki not count as contributing something? As a side note, suggest you drop this disturbing attitude, even if it's not directed to me. Notice how you didn't put this page section up? --swilatia 13:50, 15 July 2007 (GMT)
Actually, that was more in response to all the smart remarks you keep making about forgetting to upload images. So we posted a link instead of uploading! Big deal! No need to be so harsh. If honestly no offense was meant, then all due apologies, but still, maybe it's time to take that Good Manners refresher course, yeah? Omigodtheykilledkenny 22:07, 15 July 2007 (GMT)
