Tangallamarnay (English: Empire of the Tangols) is an interstellar nation that neighbours the Great Star Empire of Allech-Atreus.

Government

Tangallamarnay function on the elected dynastic system- a king, or Taganar, is elected by republican means, and rules until his death. His eldest son then assumes the throne in a dynastic fashion, and continues the family line. The office of the Taganar, or Taganarian, continues in a hereditary fashion until the dynasty can no longer produce a male heir, at which point a new Taganar is elected from a new dynasty.

The Taganar rules from the planet-city of Tangallam.

War and Military

Tangallamarnay does have a national military, which is largely for internal policing. Unlike the quasi-xenophobic imperialist military of Allech-Atreus, Tangallamarnay does not seek much conflict or expansionism.

Society

The Tangols, the people of Tangallamarnay, speak the Tangol language and identify as Tangols. There is a strong sense of national identity, and many Tangols dislike the Empire for it's decidely integrationist policies and conglomerate government.

Language is a very distinctive part of the Tangol life, with three languages being spoken- formal Tangol, everyday Tangol, and rough Tangol. Formal Tangol formed the original language used in all interactions, but as a phonetic language was very difficult to learn correctly and was often used as a means of identifying lower-class people for ostracism. The mispronunciations of the formal language developed into the everyday Tangol, which was an underground tongue. Revolutions against the ruling class resulted in the adoption of everyday Tangol as the common tongue, with formal speech reserved for court and religious functions.

Rough Tangol is the progression from Formal and Everday Tangol tongues, and is only spoken between the very close or intimate. It is considered rude to use rough terminology, and the height of vulgarity to use it in conjunction with everyday Tangol.
