Tanner Nerni: From Backroads to Glory

Discovery of a Promising Youth

The story begins on the shores of Turori. A young boy, with a mixed set of parents, one from Vilita and one from Turori, was playing with a soccer ball in the sand. Living in a beach house, young Tanner Nerni frequented the beach with his soccer ball and showed off his foot skills to his friends and other beach goers. One of those beach goers, one summer day, happened to be a scout from a new footballing franchise in Turori, the Cednia Beach AFC club. The team was set to join the Vilitan Stellar Division that was starting up shortly with 12 clubs from Vilita, and two from Turori. Cednia Beach was one of the two. Cednia Beach was started up by Turorian National team stars Marlian Hunial and Milauo Slietah, but was also developing an academy system to breed new Turorian Talent to ensure the clubs future. This scout was quick to speak with Tanner's parents, and soon, the boy was spending his afternoons with the Cednia Beach AFC youth academy. Now 14 years old, Tanner was frequently scoring goals from the Right Wing for the Cednia Youth Squad in matches against other academies from the region, including scoring against the world-famous Marine Coast Academy. Tanner's impressive performances with the academy earned him a professional contract with Cednia Beach AFC, and Tanner made his Vilitan Stellar Division debut at 16 years of age against fellow Turorian club FC Almintora.

Becoming a Professional Footballer

Just three matches later, Nerni became the youngest goalscorer in the Stellar Division when he knocked home the match winner in the 66th minute for Cednia Beach against Vilitan side Jlinal Cove FC. In his second season at the club, Nerni got to play in the Vilitan Cup Final against Marine Coast United, but Cednia Beach lost 2-0. However, it was not all in veign for Nerni, who was spotted by Marine Coast Manager and Under-21 head coach Baron O'Toole. O'Toole requested Nerni to come play for the Vilitan Under-21 squad, and after talking it over with his parents, Tanner Nerni was a Vilitan International. Despite being a regular goalscorer for Cednia Beach, including being named player of the year in Season 7 and Season 8, Nerni could not break through to the Vilitan National team. Nerni instead stayed within Atlantian Oceania, and became a regular on the AOCAF squad, netting twice against his own native Turori for his first two goals in a Vilitan uniform. Nerni also netted for the Under 21 team against Raptor Claw, on two seperate occasions, as well as scoring against Liverpool England, Rejistania, The Weegies and Druida.

Playing on the National Level

Nerni got his first chance to prove himself with some of the National Team players by getting the call up to the squad for Eagles Cup III. Nerni scored against a below-par Creedence Clearwater team, but the squad was humiliatingly knocked off by rivals Eystrck in the Quarter Finals, and most of the prospect players, including Nerni and Forward Hluali Mijatos, were cast aside by Vilitan head coach Helmut Vilkaus. There was only one chance left for Tanner Nerni. No longer eligible for the Under-21 squad, and unlikely to feature in the Regional Squad, Tanner Nerni knew he had to be playing in the Vilitan spotlight in order to break into the National Team. Nerni's break came In Season 9, when Vilitan Champions Yeaddin Owls AFC made a Vilitan Record transfer bid for the Winger, which Cednia Beach AFC were quick to accept. Soon, Tanner Nerni would be off to Vilita. The awards and recognitions started piling in, including winning The Tropical Trophy, The Vilitan Stellar Division, the Vilitan Cup and being named Vilitan Midfielder of the Year, Tanner Nerni finally earned his call to the National Team for World Cup 18 Qualifying. Nerni impressed when given a starting role, scoring twice to help Vilita in wins over Kylaai and Maserrat. However, he was still not getting the regular play he had hoped for.

The Rugged Path to Stardome

Tanner returned to the regional scene for AOCAF V as captain of the squad at the request of Massimo Corsi. Nerni accepted the role, but only netted once and the teams overall failure seemed to be the nail through Tanner Nerni's national dreams. While the Vilitan National team were going unbeaten through World Cup 19 Qualifiers, Tanner Nerni barely got to take part, only getting the chance to score against lowly puppet Finrods. Mass failures in the finals however, gave a hint of change throughout Vilita. Unfortunately for Nerni, he could not take advantage of this, and was again left off the scoresheet in World Cup 20 Qualifying. But then, Helmut Vilkaus called Tanner Nerni. Helmut admitted that budding young midfielder Jacques Vintila was ahead of Nerni on his depth chart, but Vilkaus wanted something different in his squad. Vilkaus was looking for the desire, and the experience, that would lead his team to the World Cup Final. Nerni was an important player in maintaining team spirit throughout the World Cup 20 finals in Druida, and it was only fitting when the ball hit the back of the net, and Tanner Nerni, the little boy from Cednia Beach, wheeled away towards the billions of frantic Vilitan Supporters, having just scored his first ever World Cup Finals goal. The goal that brought the World Cup to Vilita for the very first time.
