Tasat is an estate and duchy held by the Duke of Tasat which was created and first held by High King John in 1378. The original ducal residence was the old castle of Caer Tasat which is now primarily a tourist sight.

While buildings grew up around the castle and the structure was modernized some in subsequent centuries, it remained the primary residence until 1882, when Gahariet Vane, the twenty-sixth duke, an avid world traveller and modernizer, decided to construct a more modern manor house on the grounds of the estate.

The duke commissioned Radman Haczek to design the mansion itself, Farkas Oimeracz to do the gardens, and Gaute Paldan to manage the forest. All three men were Europeans the duke brought to the Resurgent Dream solely for this job. To make the estate self-supporting, the duke set up the first scientific forestry programs in the Resurgent Dream, along with poultry, cattle and hog farms. The entire estate is 131,000 acres.

Visitors from the rest of the Resurgent Dream, where modern technology had made very little impression in the late 19th century, the new Tasat Manor's electricity, elevators, and intercom system were true wonders. Nor did the manor lack in the more traditional accoutrements of a noble estate, possessing rooms furnished with fine art and ornate furniture, a well stocked library, and an excellent kitchen serving a 70 seat banquet table. The duke also fully saw to the entertainment of himself and his family, not only with the tradition entertainment of hunting on the estate's woods but also with an indoor swimming pool, a bowling alley, and a game room.
