The Federation of Technological Utopias is a technology loving, multilingual, multicultural, and economically powerful nation, as well as the founder of the FreeTech Union. Its hard-working, intelligent population hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion. The mostly liberal government devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, education, and the advancement of science & technology.

Federal Government

The Federation of Technological Utopias is classified as a federal republic. The federal government consists of the legislative branch, the executive branch (which is managed by the legislature), and the judicial branch.

Legislature

The legislature, which makes the laws of Technological Utopias, consists of the Senate,House of Representatives, and the Chancellor.

Senate

The Senate is a group of politicans elected by the people of their province. Every province has a total of three Senators representing them, and there are eighteen senators overall. One senator from each province is selected every two years. Senators serve four year terms.

The Senate is lower branch of legislature, meaning that all bills must go threw the Senate before going to the House of Representatives.

The number of representatives for each province has in the House is based on their population. Representatives serve three year terms.

Chancellor

For more information, such as past chancellors, see the main article on the chancellor of Technological Utopias.

The chancellor is the top government offical in The Federation of Technological Utopias. Every five years, the chancellor is elected by the entire population. The current chancellor is Doctor Klaus Friedenmann.

The chancellor oversees meetings of the Senate and House of Representatives, and has the final say on all bills. He/she may either veto the bill or approve it. In the event that is vetoed, at least 2/3 vote by the House of Representatives and a 1/2 vote by the Senate is required to override the veto. Also, 95% or more of the regular population can override the veto. However, this is a rare event and has only happened twice.

Executive Branch

The executive branch is the administrative branch of Technological Utopias' government. It is managed by the legislative branch. There are many different departments in the executive branch, and they all handle issues relating to certain topics. For example, the defence department handles issues regarding defence and the education department handles issues of education. Each executive department has a chief minister, recommended by the chancellor and approved by the Senate & House of Representatives, who oversees the actions of that department.
