Templtsar Rebellion of 2052

The Templtsar Rebellion of 2052 was an armed struggle led by Temple Faith militants from the south of Deadrockall. It led to a Period of Crisis being enacted and in the subsequent elections the formation of a separate Templtsar state on the southern peninsular of Deadrockall

Lead-up and Discontent

Deadrockall was originally set up as a Temple Faith heartland and promoted the scriptures' necessity on self-reliance and shunning of material goods. A secularist revolution in 2036 overthrew the Temple government and instilled a democratically elected parliament led by a militant secularist Marbur Eskyez.

Boycotted by most Temple groups, the Secularist Deadrockall Party gained over 90% of the vote and began forcing through legislation setting up independant press, schools, and entering in to the free market. The changes bought about economic change at a frightening rate and by 2052 Deadrockall was one of the success stories of laissez faire economics.

However the change masked a greather discontent held by traditionalists who saw the debauchery going on in capital cities such as Keysen, the convertion of temples into schools that then blasphemed against the religion and longed for a simpler state.

2052 Elections

The 2052 elections were the closest in Deadrockall's history with the SDP gaining a narrow majority of 48 seats. However the opposing Temple Coaltion, that comprised of various temple splinter groups, got 47 seats and vowed to block furthur reform if it didn't fit the temple guidelines.

Prime Minister Osker Lein's managing of the economy saw such crises as thousands of Serna employees fired and the juggling of difficult issues such as those concerning abortion and gay rights. In a bill designed to quash the movement for a separate state, Osker Lein bundled in a bill concerning semi-autonomy with a bill restricting abortion. It passed with a huge majority but prompted outrage at the sneaky, underhand tactics used by the government.

Terrorist Attacks

The first terrorist attack occured on a bus in Keysen rush hour, killing seven. It shook the people who suddenly demanded action to prevent such attacks occuring again. Lein took a hardline stance and attacks continued.

Period of Crisis Enactment

A Period of Crisis was enacted in October 2052 and handed full control to the military and police to quash the terrorists. In a siege at a temple in Los Lesora the military found "uranium, plutonium and several primitive suitcase devices capable of [creating a] dirty bomb".

2052 November Elections

The November 2052 elections saw the Southern Deadrockall Now Party emerge as strong contenders in the 22 states they ran for election. Then went on to win 20 of them and got autonomy for 18 of these. A dispute still runs between Deadrockall and Templtsar as to the ownership of these territories, however this has been political and not violent so far.
