Terran means "of Terra" or "of Earth". It is a synomym with the word terrestrial, sharing a common root. In a sense, everything on Earth can be referred to as both Terran and terrestrial.

The term Terran is often used to refer to a native of Earth, a member of a sentient species native to Earth, or a human, in contrast to beings native to other planets and, sometimes, to non-human species which are properly considered Terran but are lumped in with aliens by popular prejudices in many nations.

A synonym for Terran, usually considered somewhat campy, is Earthling. However, this is rarely used in a non-joking way outside the context of dated science fiction.
