Texas is a large friendly region where freedom is considered one of its greatest resources. Texas is a proud region and home to many diverse nations. Texas is allied with Wysteria, The Heartland and Nasicournia. We are always welcoming new nations. Texas also has a Government, Constitution, Elections and many inter-regional Sporting Events. Come on down!

Texas Forum

The offsite forum of Texas is the center of socializing, roleplaying, and regional government. It has more than 450 members and 22,000 posts.

Texas Map

The Texas Map is where the nations of Texas fix their geographical locations. These maps can be personalized to whatever level you choose. The Texas maps, due to the amount of nations in Texas, were made so that there were two maps of Texas. The first is simply called "Texas" and the second is called "Texas Prime". These Texas maps were subdivided into regions that correspond with the terrain of Texas in real life. The Texas Regional Map, created and maintained by PAX HEARTLANDIA, is one of, if not the, largest undertaking in the history of Texas.

Texas Government

The government of Texas is a democracy. The Texas Constitution is the basis for all government and law in the region, and it can be changed by a vote on the offsite forum during any of the quarterly elections. The Texas government is organized in a manner similar to the real life United States, with a President, Vice-President, a Cabinet, an Election Commission, and a Representative Council.

President of Texas

The President of Texas is the chief executive officer in the region. The President is the Founder of the region and is responsible for overseeing everything in Texas,. The President has always been Big Tex of NewTexas, and he has always been a tireless protector, promoter, recruiter, and improver for the region. He has also held the presidency for this long because of the fact the constitution prohibits anyone but him from holding the office.

Vice-President of Texas

The Vice-President of Texas, like all Cabinet members, acts as an advisor to the President. He/she is next in line for the Presidency should anything untoward happen to the President, and can represent the region in a diplomatic capacity similar to that of the President. The current Vice-President is Green-ville.

Texas Secretary of State

The Secretary of State performs the duties of a chief diplomat, and represents Texas in a diplomatic capacity. He or she coordinates diplomatic efforts in cooperation with the President, and oversees the individual ambassadors and consuls who represent Texas in specific regions as per the alliance or other agreement with that region. The Secretary of State may be called upon by the President to issue official statements on behalf of Texas. The current Secretary of State is Advanced Concepts.

Texas Secretary of United Nations Affairs

The Secretary of United Nations Affairs is responsible for helping Texans draft and campaign for United Nations legislation. Texas has always been active in the United Nations, and several nations from or currently residing in Texas have authored Resolutions with help from the Secretary of UN Affairs and other Texas nations. Rixtex authored the "United Nations Space Consortium"; Frisbeeteria authored "Rights and Duties of UN States"; and Texan Hotrodders authored "Right to Self-Protection" and "United Nations Security Act". The current Secretary of United Nations Affairs is El Caminos in Texas.

Texas Secretary of Defense

The Secretary of Defense is responsible for overseeing the defense of Texas, which includes the management of the Texas Defense Force and coordination with the Texas Intelligence Agency to identify possible in-game threats from invader organizations. The current Secretary of Defense is Sweet Furry Kittens.

Texas Secretary of Space

The Secretary of Space is in charge of maintaining, improving, or beginning space programs for Texas. Texas has two successful shuttle missions, The NewAlamo space station, and an orbital missile defense system. The current Secretary of Space is Irish Families.

Texas Secretary of Environmental Affairs

The Secretary of Environmental Affairs is in charge of handling environmental issues for Texas. In the past, environmental programs have included a region-wide endangered species list and a zoo. This position is currently defunct.

Texas Secretary of Health Affairs

The Secretary of Health Affairs is responsible for addressing issues of health in Texas, and has in the past done so by performing extensive "tests" on the BBQs to make sure they are sanitary and creating a region-wide list of healthy and unhealthy restaurants. This position is currently defunct.

Texas Secretary of Trade and Transportation

The Secretary of Trade and Transportation facilitates regional cooperation with regard to transport and encourages trade among Texas nations and nations from allied regions. In the past, he has established the Texas Rail Commission under the auspices of his department in order to address issues of international railroads in Texas. The current Secretary of Trade and Transportation is Evictorious.

Texas Secretary of Countercultural Affairs

The Secretary of Countercultural Affairs is responsible for keeping Texas from becoming too dull. This usually involves throwing...unique...parties and injecting humor into overly serious discussions. The current Secretary of Countercultural Affairs is Murray the Evil Skull.

Texas Sports Commissioner

The Sports Commissioner oversees the roleplayed sports in Texas. He approves new sporting events, advertises them upon request, and tries to bring new sports to Texas. The current Sports Commissioner is The Bohemian Rhapsody.

Texas Land Commissioner

The Land Commisioner oversees the development of the Texas maps. He promotes the maps, does most of the work associated with the maps, and keeps track of all map requests and such. The current Land Commissioner is PAX HEARTLANDIA.

Texas Election Commission

The Texas Election Commission oversees the quarterly elections for the region, making sure that each person votes only once and that all votes are counted in an effort to provide true democratic legitimacy to the greatest extent possible. Once the TEC has finalized the results of the voting, the President announces the winners of the elections and directs Texans to the Post-Election party.

Texas Secretary of Internal Affairs

The Secretary of Internal Affairs is responsible for facilitating the functioning of the TRC, making sure that every elected official is informed of their duties and privileges, and coordinating with the rest of the Government. The current Secretay of Internal Affairs is F799.

Texas Representative Council

As specified in the Constitution, Texas elects a Regional Council. The Council shall include the Cabinet Members of Texas and enough freely elected citizens of Texas to bring the count of the body up to 10% of the population of Texas at the time of the nominations process. As with all offices, the members of the council are elected during the quarterly elections.

The TRC has traditionally not had all that much to do. The Constitution indicates that they are supposed to deal with such serious problems as breaches of the Constitution and internal disputes, and Texas has been fortunate not to have much of those sorts of problems. A recent Amendment to the Constitution requires that the TRC have a say in alliance requests, which may help to increase activity on the part of the Council.

The current Council Members are (in alphabetical order): 4 20 Celebrants, AbFab, Alcatraz 5, Armed Texas, Bearistotle and Hebert, Boomba, Channelview, Crazy Hell for War, Darth Kermit, Eciujeltaeb, Eggyolk, F799, Gaussiny, Germany-Logania, Greenspoint, HForst, HotRodia, Intestinal Fluids, Lamberthill, No Stinking Taxes, Redneck Mechanics, Richard II, The Rose of Texas, Trecdom, and Yertanistan.

Texas History

Texas is an old region that was Founded before Founders had any sort of official standing. No one knows for sure who the Founder was, but one of the older nations in the region, Boomba, suggested that it might be a nation called "Moondog," though he was not certain of this at all. The first known Delegate of Texas is Fred II, and aside from a certain game glitch that had the then Vice-President AbFab ascending to the Delegacy, NewTexas has been the Delegate ever since Fred II chose to retire from the position.

Due to certain in-game events that led to Texas helping The Heartland gain its freedom from invaders, three regions decided to form an inter-regional alliance for mutual defense. They called this alliance The Triumvirate, and the member regions are Texas, The Heartland, and Wysteria. This alliance has continued to grow stronger over the past two years, and many residents of the three regions have enjoyed their Triumvirate brethren so much that they chose to treat another member region as a second home.

In August of 2003, Texas chose to enter into a mutual assistance pact with 10000 Islands, citing the two regions' similar love for freedom from invasion and Texas' aid in the 10000 Islands' time of need. The alliance was terminated in May of 2004 for very vague reasons.

In November of 2003, Texas chose to enter into another mutual defense alliance, this time with the region Nasicournia. Several Texans have enjoyed close relationships with members of Nasicournia, and Texas Ambassadors to Nasicournia are always made to feel welcome. In the past, some folks have seemingly assumed that because Texas is allied with Nasicournia, it must be a member of the ADN. This is not the case, and has never been the case.

In early 2005, Texas began opening Consulates with regions that it wished to pursue friendly relations with while not yet committing to a stronger alliance. Since that time the list of Consulates has grown to comprise sixteen regions, of which Southern Malibu Islands is the most recent. Other regions/organizations that have Consulates in Texas are Wysteria, The Heartland, Nasicournia, Monkey Island, North Pacific, Galts Gulch, Conservative Paradise, the League of Small Regions, Canada, Gatesville, The Pacific, Elite Conservative Circuit, Change, and Southern Malibu Islands.
