A history on my nation to start with.

Age of Being

It is hard to say when exactly the Water Tribes came about. At first, they were a nomadic people who traveled the world. Then they decided to settle down in the North Pole. The first leader is said to have been elected by the people, although his name is lost among the ages. All that is known is that they lived in little ice huts, or igloos, to keep shelter from the harsh elements. The people continued to elect their own leaders every other moon cycle. As they stayed in one place, their numbers began to grow, and people started to move out of the village and form their own, with their own elected leaders. There is really no form of government that links all of the villages together. This caused many problems among the villages as a lot of rivalries formed. The people of all villages though, were fascinated with the moon and the ocean. As time went on, the people watched how the moon pushed and pulled the water, and they had learned to do it themselves.

Age of Water Masters.

These people were called Water Benders, as they could bend the water to their will. They could control it in any of its three forms. The people who learned to use their water bending skills the best, became the first masters. The masters were responsible for defending their villages. They developed a fighting style based similar to tai chi. They focus more on defense and redirecting the power back at the attacker. These masters were also responsible for teaching young water benders how to use their gift. Some of them have even discovered how to heal by redirecting energies in the body.

Age of Civil Unrest

With the new found ability to bend water, the villages have been at civil war with each other. The most powerful village, the first one, is still growing more powerful by the day. The master, a man by the name of Pakku, has many followers and students. He leads his army of benders around the continent, claiming himself Emperor of the Water Tribes. There are many people who disprove of this and he sends out his benders to make them see it his way. After the rebels, as Pakku called them, were out of the way, he began an era of total control.

Age of Empire

Ever since Master Pakku became the first Emperor, the Tribes have experienced a prosperity never known before. Master Pakku’s family became the only one to rule the Water Tribes. The Tribes went from tiny little village huts, to giant cities of ice. The palace of course was the most magnificent building. It took twenty years or more, the exact time is unknown, to get it the way that Master Pakku wanted it. The Tribes flourished as an empire with an absolute ruler. Since Pakku, the empire has been ruled by Kana, Yue, Sokka, Katara, and now are under the rule of Empress Bolden. With Empress Bolden’s leadership, the economy has never been better. The poverty levels have dropped, she has established public schools, (before there were only schools to learn water bending), she has increased military spending, brought the budget under control, and has maintained peace with the Water Tribes unreasonable neighbors.
