The American Privateer is a large wealthy nation. Having faced war and extermination at the hand of the Tungsten-pot Dictatorship of 1010102, the people of the American Privateer are on constant alert for the possibility of war.

Civilian Life

Sports

Arena Combat

A stylized version of the old Gladiatorial Games, Arena Combat is a competition in which Martial Artists are pitted against each other, armed with Disabler Weapons, which cut off the neural connections to a body part. However, it is not strong enough to cause death in the target, and can not shut down the spinal cord or the brain.

Hover-Ball

Played on specialized Hoverboards, Hover-Ball is a game played in a low gravity chamber, with five goals spaced randomly across two opposing walls. Teams are set up similar to soccer teams, with an additional two players whose job it is to distract and disable opposing players with large stun sticks, these players, called Knights, are only allowed to go after the player with ne of the two balls.

Older Sports

Baseball, Football, La Crosse, Arena Football, NPPL Paintball, Cycling, Hurling, Rugby, Soccer, Gaelic Rules Soccer, and several other older sports are still played

City Life

The cities of The American Privateer are almost exclusively made up of Sky Cities, each of which surround the Central City and it's Space Elevator. The Commercial buildings are all Super Tall Skyscrapers, with triangular holes cut into them for Tram Stops.

The average citizen in these cities live in Half-Ring, two story, 2,500 sq foot apartments. Most of the population use the Public Transit Systems that are built into the city. They comprise of Independent Gyro Tram Cars, similar to modern Subway and commuter trains, that can move in three dimensions with a rotating magnetic coupling ring. These trams move between levels and between buildings on the city.

Arts and Culture

Sculpture is an almost forgotten art in The American Privateer, as the invention of the Holo-Panel allows for Computer Architects to program new Sculptures into a holographic system for display at the person's leisure. recently, finely crafted swords and guns have taken the place of statues, as they can be placed on brackets on the wall, and not take up valuable floor space.

Paintings have also lost their appeal, though most people have rooms where they hang some of their favorite classics, in favor of 2 or 3 Dimensional Images and Poetry that has been either painted on, or stimulated into creation with a light generating cell paint. The shift from Images to Poetry is based on the renewed interest in stimulating the mind's eye and the imagination.

Music has taken on a sound more familiar to the later 1900's, early 2000's. Recently, traditional cultural music has beguin to take hold, with emphasis being on Japanese, Celtic, and Indian music.

Culturally, The American Privateer are what are known as Libertarian Puritans. The people are fairly open minded, allowing people to do as they please, but at the same time, the population values Hard Work, Family Loyalty, and Abstinence.

Industry

Arms Industry

The Arms Industry is a primarily mechanized industry with little human oversight. The Industry includes the twin World Devastators still in control of TAP, which makes up the nation's ship building capability.

Winchester Arms, the national Subsidiary of StarForge, is the primary producer of the Light Repeating Pulse Rifles, SoroSuub Laser Bazooka and SoroSuub Tri-Barrel Laser Assault Cannons. Winchester Arms is located on Aspen Colony

Aspen Yards, the primary Shipyards of The American Privateer, produces the Venator Class Star Destroyers, Endurance Class Fleet Carriers, Nebulon B-2 Frigates, and MC-85 Star Cruisers. They are also being geared up to produce the new MAC Battleships being designed at the National Headquarters on New Shiloh.

Cyprus Colonial Yards is the former construction yard for the Akira, Intrepid, and Concorde class vessels, has recently switched over to producing the new Leviathan Class Supercarriers, and to begin production of a new series of support vessels, as the old ones are to be sold off at public auction.

Northrop-Grumman, the fighter Production Facility, produces the X-Wings, K-Wings, T-Wings, Shuttles, AT-Barges, and runabouts being produced for the TAP'ian Navy and planetary Air Guards.

Automotive Industry

The Automotive Industry is a robot run industry, though it has a larger human presence than other mechanized industries. The factories tend to focus on aerocraft, such as the Moeller Skycar, though Magno-cars, two wheeled pods similar to the cars in Minority Report, are also popular.

Recently, Geo-Magnetic Lift vehicles have begun to increase in popularity, and several new companies, namely MagLev Automotive and SkyMag Motors have begun to arise to meet the demands. SkyMag Motors has gone back to hand-producing their vehicles, and are currently a luxury vehicle production facility.

Electronics Industry

The Electronics Industry is considered a joke in The American Privateer, as all of the major Electronics and Computer Companies are owned by the three major Diamond Companies. The computers used by TAP'ian products are all Diamond based, instead of silicon based, due to the increased electronics efficiency and lowered need for constant repairs.

Mineral Replication and Mining

Diamond Mining

Diamond Mining has been taken over by a new form of Nano-Tech called Mole-bots, which search for large amounts of Carbon, and return them to the surface, where Celion's assemble them into Diamonds.

The Three major companies, DeBeers, Kay, and the newcomers, Eagle, all compete to lower costs the most. However, Eagle, the currently flourishing and leading company, is also a shell for Nova Company, and is one of their primary sources of currency.

Gemstones

Lightsaber Crystals

Lightsaber Crystals mined on the asteroid belts allow the sabers used by allied nations to produce different effects. However, due to the rarity, and the refusal by the Big 3D to use their technology to mine these crystals, only SaberStar mines them at high costs.

Precious Gems

The Precious Gems are used in jewelry, having replaced diamonds as the stones of favor, due to their now comparative rarity.

Kay, Eagle, and SaberStar all compete in this market.

Nano-Bot Manufacturing

The Nano-Bots are manufactured by what are known as Builder Colonies. These colonies are programmed to build specific percentages of different types of Nanites.

Nanites

A Host can only house four Nanites at a time. Should more be injected, then the newest ones will attack the oldest ones, destroying them. The only exception is the use of Triterons in those who have had their Imune System destroyed.

the nanites used by TAP are as follows:
Triteron Immuno-Bots: Triterons serve to either bolster or replace the immune system of the person into whom they are injected. They are the only known cure to a Stilleto Infection.

Arachnae Weaver-Bots: Arachnae nanites serve to seal up wounds that their hosts receive with Bio-Synth, and fill the cavity with a specialized foam that serves to replace the damaged cells until they grow back.

Cypher Techno-Kinetics: Cyphers are used primarily for those who have lost a limb, suffer from paralysis, or are assigned for some form of high risk field. Cyphers are able to send a signal from a host to a desired piece of technology via sub-space.

Cerebro Library-bots: Cerebro colonies are used to store information about a subject. However, they can only be programmed to learn about one field, though they grant perfect mastery over their keyed fields.

Stilleto Nerve-Slayers: Stilletos are one of the most gruesome forms of Nano-Viruses. The Stilleto Virus is used to attack and break down the nerves in the spinal cord, working their way up from the injection point to the brain, which they summarily destroy. Once the host dies, the Stilleto Colonies breakdown, and as such are a popular weapon of Assassins.

Celeon Builder-Nanite: Celeon Colonies are used to destroy non-organic matter and rebuild it as something else. Usually programmed to build further nanites, a virus known as Calcio has worked into the programming of some of Celeon Colonies.

Calcio (Infected Celeon Colonies): Calcio colonies are the worst colony known to man. They go out in hunt of Organic Matter, and transform it into calcium. Those infected with it find their bodies being solidified from the point of infection outwards. Unlike Stilleto, Calcio will continue infecting until there is no organic matter left.

Achilles Body-Sheath: Achilles Colonies sit on the skin, laying dormant until needed. Upon activation, a titanium body sheath of ablative armor is formed that flows with the body. Chromium-Mirror sheaths are also available for seven times the price. However, they do leave open a single, two square inch hole at the base of the spine.

Chamelon Second Skin: The Chamelon Colonies are the most popular colonies, as they can be used to provide Active Camoflague to a person. Alternatively, Chamelons can be used to create temporary tattoos that will not wash off.

New Tortuga System

The New Tortuga system is a binary sytem, with a Sol-Type G2V Star in the Center, and a colder M4V star in the same relative position as Saturn.

Merucia

Located in the main star's heat zone, Mercuria is a world that takes twice as long to orbit the sun as it does to rotate on its axis. Due to the intense Heat and Cold on the surface, almost all mining operation are conducted beneath the surface of the planet. The only place where night is permanent is on the North Pole, and is owned by the American Privateer Department of Transportation. The North Pole Station is also the trading post for the planet, where supplies are dropped for the next Mad Night Dash.

The Mad Night Dash is a bi-annual trucking marathon, where truckers from across The American Privateer arrive to transport massive loads of cargo from the North Pole station to the mining colonies. Due to the lack of a Geo-Magnetic field, the drivers are restricted to using tracked and wheeled vehicles.

Tortuga VI

Tortuga VI is a lush world with a temperature akin to that of the Midwestern United States in the spring in the majority, and a cooler climate more akin to Central Canad above the Northern Circle and below the Southern Circle.

The weather is more humid, and the overall balance of land and water is slightly more in favor of land, with a surface area only 60% water.

The main cities are located in three places, one on the coast of the Euradan Continent in the Northern Hemisphere, one at the North Pole, and a third on a small, cliff sided Island in the Southern Hemisphere.

New Tortuga

New Tortgua, the Artificial Moon of Tortuga VI, is a large rocky world that has been highly inhabited. It is also the home of the TAP'ian government.

Ashwood

Ashwood is a large Gas Giant, about the size of Saturn, with a high-content Hydrogen Atmosphere. No persons live on the planet's surface, though rumors persists that Nova Company has a small outpost hidden in the clouds.

Brightside

Brightside is a moon, that, due to it's strange orbit, always remains on the brightside of Ashwood. It is home to the TAP'ian Military Testing Grounds, and the American Privateer Naval Academy.

Nightside

Nightside, a mineral rich planet, is in a location that makes it almost uninhabitable. Located on the opposite side of the planet from Brightside, Nightside is permanently basked in dusk.

Nightside is also the home of the Tortuga Deep Space Array.

Aspen

Aspen is a small colony that focuses on the manufacturing of Starships and Fighters at its three Shipyards.

Threshold

Threshold is home to a small Science Academy, and has an orbit that takes it to the opposite side of the planet only every 33 years. Many of the Ground Radar and Geo-Physics scientists are itching to study the tunnels that have been found to criss-cross the planet's crust.

Large, termite mound style feature have been found in the north and south. some Exo-Biologists find this worrying, but most of them are more concerned about their experiments into improving the Klendathu Bugs that they have been charged with.

Botany Bay

Botany Bay is the prison colony where Hydrogen and Deuterium Gas is mined from Ashwood, and then processed into Starship Fuel.

Military Personnel

Currently, a full tenth of the population serves in the war, due to the abundance of Replicators and Robotic Factories, a large military force can be maintained.

The Total number of Personnel serving in the Armed forces equals 201 million persons and robots, with only 150 million on the front lines.

The average cost per soldier is $74,626.

Navy

The Navy, the most focused upon section of the military, is also the largest. It is organized into multiple Task-Forces, and four Command Forces in the event of war.

Naval Uniforms

The naval Battle Dress Uniform is a black coverall with gray side panels running from the the armpit to the mid-thigh, and gray shoulders. The Combat Boots worn are black, and run up to the mid-shin.

Security officers usually wear Blue and Gold versions with blue boots. They also usually wear a side-arm on their leg when on duty.

Pilots usually wear a Gray and White version, though the chest section is thicker, with colling/heating vanes running through that part of the uniform.

Officers wear White versions of the uniform, with black paneling replacing the gray of the BDU. The boots remain black.

The Naval Dress Uniform is a pair of black slacks, a black shirt, and a white jacket that ends below the breast, with long sleeves. The shoes are black, with black socks.

Army

The Army, formerly the Marine Corps, is a space transported branch, that is trained to board ships and make ground landings.

Army Uniform

The Army BDU is a plain, white uniform with pigmentation cells located inside the fabric that can be shocked into assuming different patterns based on the combat location. During Combat Operations, all Infantry personnel wear this uniform. The Uniform has heating/cooling vanes running throughout the uniform, though in a much smaller capacity than the Naval pilot's uniform. The BDU also has an optional coat made of the same material.

The Mech Jockeys and Tank Crews wear specialized versions of the Naval Pilots uniform, with cutoff legs and arms.

The Dress Uniform is a White Shirt and Slacks, with a black vest.

Tortuga VI

Space Defenses

New Tortuga: New Tortuga is a sphere of granite about a half the size of Luna. It has 75 banks of Heavy Turbolasers, 150 Tachyon Cannons, 25 Ion Cannons, and 75 Super MAC Guns, all powered by the Fusion and Geo-Thermal Power plants. It has a full set of Scrambler, Deflector, Ray, and Cold Plasma Shields.
Scrambler Fields: Following the Assault by the Gruntsandelites Robotic Fleet, Scrambler Fields were put into place. These fields scramble robotic brains not shielded by a Top-Secret shielding system, rendering the ships dead in space.
Super MAC Stations: in orbit around the planet are 150 sets of three Super MAC Stations, powered by Fusion Generators that are built around the barrel of the Coil Gun.
Anti-Ballistic Missile Point Defense Laser Grid: the ABMPD Laser Grid is a grid of small stations placed in strategic geo-synch orbit to protect the planet from incomin IPBM's and Stealth Scouts.
Shield Generators: the planet of Tortuga VI has a twin set of shields, made up of Cold Plasma, Ray, and Deflector Shields.
Mine Field: the Mine Field that orbits Tortuga VI is made up of over a billion Neutron Mines, and 100 thousand Atomic Mines. There are three paths, marked by a set of beacons, and bordered with Cold Plasma Fields, that allow ships to pass through the field to the three Starports.
Starbase 1: the Star Base serves as a star fortress in front of the Path to the central city of Tortuga VI.
Super Ion Stations: Super Ion Stations are oversized versions of the traditional Ion Cannon. Similar to the Superlasers found on Eclipse and Sovereign class Super Star Destroyers, these Super Ion Cannons are able to disable everything but a Super Star Destroyer with a single shot. They are powered by Fusion generators.
Scanning Grid: Based out of Starbase 1, the Scanning grid uses scans to search for Tachyon Displacement, Graviometric Disturbances, Photon Displacement, Hyperspace Disturbances, Z-Space Distortions, Slipstream Disturbances, and Sub-Space Displacement.

Logistical Command is primarily made up of Robotic Ships, converted from standard civilian cargo vessels. They are used to maintain the high amount of supplies that are required on the front lines.

Technology

Scrambler Fields: The Scramble Fields disrupt EM fields, and destroy systems such as Positronic Brains, Gelsphere Minds, and any form of CPU systems, such as those used in ship and robotic computers and brains. Biologicals that enter a Scrambler Field without some form of shielding are often left stunned for several seconds as they have their own internal EM field overloaded. However, the Scrambler Fields are rarely fatal to Biologicals, unless he or she has a life sustaining prosthetic or support system.

Magnetic Resonance Torpedoes: The Magnetic Resonance Torpedoes used by the nations of The American Privateer, The Longinean Order, and Niall Noiglach, are used to negate the Electro-Magnetic Bonds that hold many molecular bonds together. When a MR Torpedo detonates, all metallic and hydrological molecular bonds within 50 meters dissolve, and the molecules are dispersed.

Resurrection Chambers: Based on Cylon Designs, Resurrection Chambers allow those logged on to the Galatctic Net in either a passive or active mode to download to a specific Resurrection Chamber, where their Genetic Code is stored. Using this technology, people can actually swap bodies if they so choose, using Genetic Templates to become one of many different types of humanoid sub-races.

Cold Plasma Shielding: Good for stopping projectiles, the Cold Plasma Shield is immune to many anti-shield weapons, and can serve as windows. These have replaced Magnetic Containment Fields, as they are able to trap heat within the chamber, something MagCon Fields cannot do.

Tesseract Generators: Using quantum strings, the Tesseract Generator is able to jump from one place to another. However, it can be blocked with certain forms of Graviometric Warping can make an End Destination Calculation impossible, and thus prevent jumping.

Tesseract inhibitors: Though un-confirmed, the fear of other nations possessing Tesseract Generators has prompted the R&D department to develop a new way to prevent Tesseracts into TAP'ian space.

Inter-Universal Rifts: Though it is classified as to how this is done, TAP has confirmed that they do have the ability to open up inter-universal rifts that either transport something some where else, or loop back into this Universe at another point in space. This is Unaffected by Graviometric Fluctuations, but costs massive amounts of energy.

Mk IV Fusion Reactors: Using twin Mark I Fusion Reactors, the Mark IV is able to overlap it's Magnetic Field with theirs to allow it to boost power 300%. It is cooled by a laser-induced optical slurry that is super-cooled to 2 degrees Kelvin to neutralize waste heat. With this Technology, the more juice that the Generators are drawing, the more power to cool them with.

Mobile Holo Emitters: Unlike the one used by the Doctor in Star Trek Voyager, these Emitters are hovering balls that float at about head height of the hologram being projected. The Hologram is emitted around it, complete with a force field and deflection field. The Emitter is powered by remote linkage to ship or ground based Fusion Reactor. It contains a Sub-Space Galactic Network connection, as well as a link up to the Galactic Holographic Network.

Class VIII MAC Guns: The Class VIII Magnetic Accelerator Cannons have twin 50m cannons, which are able to fire either in synchronization or alternating. The cannons each have Magnetic Field Recyclers and Booster Capacitors, which gives each weapon three shots.

MAC Rounds: The MAC guns fire one of several types of ammo.

Shells are solid Tungsten Carbide and are liable to tear straight through an unshielded ship

Splinter Shells are similar to the Shells, in that they have a Tungsten Carbide Shell, but they are filled with an Iron Core that will splinter upon impact. Upon impact, the shell will have a small entry wound, and a large exit wound.

Dragon Rounds are Tungsten Carbide shelled rounds with the Fire of Nathos loaded into them. they are designed to disable enemy Life Support Systems and eat up the O2 on board the ship.

Artificial Gravity:The Artificial Gravity used aboard shops owned by TAPN have had their grav plating replaced with a more efficient form that is able to provide a constant .37 G during normal operations, and a .89 G during combat. All this for half the energy drain of the standard Federation Grav Decking.

Ghosts: the Ship's Avatars are not Artificial Intelligence as they are in other nations, instead, they are what are known as Ghosts, and are composed of the Mind and Soul of a dead person who refused to use a Resurrection Chamber.

Research and Development

All Force Nullification Mines: All Force Nullification Mines are weapons that are theorized to be able to break apart the bonds of Gravity, the Electro-Magnetic Force, and the Molecular Strong and Weak Forces. The ability to even test such an item is still many decades off.

Personal Plasma Shields: Using Magnetic Fields, it has been theorized that the Cold Plasma Shields used on Capital Ships might be able to be Scaled Down for use on personnel. The smallest ones currently used are used on the AT-AT's of the TAP'ain Armed Forces. It is believed that they might have the solution in about a decade.
