HISTORY

The Artful Dodgers is a nation currently serving as a soldier in Pacific Army and has been steadfastly fooling around since November or 2005. It is also a diplomat to the FCS and has taken part in the Defender/Invader Convention in the Meritocracy.

GOVERNMENT

The Artful Dodgers is officially a republic. Unoficially, there's not much of a government to speak of. Each of the three provinces (Dweegle, Dwuggle, and the Cornerlands) elects a senator to represent them, although the senators don't actually do much besides play D&D and make smores. Citizens are free to elect a Prime Minister every five and 2/3 years, and a senator every two years.

Government Ministries

Prime Minister, Art Dodgerson
Art Dodgerson is the current Prime Minister/rock superstar of The Artful Dodgers. Because of his rapid popularity amongst the Artfulian populace, he has won every election for the past eleven years and counting--despite the fact that his name only appeared on the ballot once.

Vice Minister, THIS-SPACE-FOR-RENT Sign
Mr. Sign has served as Vice Minister for Art Dodgerson ever since he was elected into office, and has proven invaluable to the country time and time again. When terrorists held a convinience store hostage during the Twinkie Crisis of 1996, Mr. Sign personally negotiated with the terrorists, persuading them to let the hostages go and to give themselves up unconditionally. Rumors of extra-marital affairs have been popping up over the years, but Mr. Sign vehemently denies all allegations, stating "THIS SPACE FOR RENT!"

Senators:
Dweegle: Robert Smith
Dwuggle: Marie Antoinette
the Cornerlands: Roger Ramjet

Minister of Defense and Security, Rorsharch
Mr. Rorsharch is currently Minister of Defense and Security in The Artful Dodgers. Everything from foreign battles to domestic crises fall under his jurisdiction. Mr. Rorsharch is also known to take official investigations upon himself, often acting as sole detective. It is said that, on more than one occasion, Mr. Rorsharch resorts to physical and emotional torture to procure information, which he never denies or acknowladges.

Minister of Anti-government, Codename V
The Artful Dodgers prides itself on it's dedication to civil liberty. As a means to ensure the government doesn't overstep it's bounds, the Ministry of Anti-government was established. Basically, if the government does anything to restrict the liberty of the Artfulian people, Codename V would blow up a building. Simple, but effective.

Minister of Tom Waits, Tom Waits
Tom Waits is currently serving as Minister of Tom Waits in The Artful Dodgers. "It's a tough job bein' Tom Waits," Mr. Waits said in his signature gravel-and-gin voice, "But somebody has to do it. Figure that it might as well be Tom Waits."

Landmarks

Culture is very important to the Artfulian people. Several national landmarks have been constructed bearing this in mind, including the statue of Don Knotts, the Multi-religion chapel of ChristMohammedVishnuBuddahYahewWhatever (which is set up so that each religion can take turns worshipping in the same place--in order to save money by not having to build separate buildings) and the renkowned fresco of "Jon Stewart's Spit-Take" located in the Capital Hall.
