NOTE: WORK IN PROGRESS

After the debacle of designing the failed CF-16 "Super Fighter," the CC went about designing a new fighter to fulfill it's need for a fighter that could compare to the advanced F-2 "Rapier" of the Confederacy.

Design

The CF-18 was to be a relatively cheap plane focusing on defense as opposed to offense. As such, the CF-18 put a major focus onto speed, including the ability to super cruise, range, and detection.

Since the CC did not have much success designing aircraft on their own, they loosely based their design off of the MiG-31 Interceptor.

Airframe

The CF-18 Is very similar in appearance and airfram design to the MiG-31.

Powerplant

The powerplant are simple high-powered turbofans, with no advanced technologies such as thrust vectoring, since speed is the main priority.

Armament

The armament was limited to internal bays to reduce drag allowing for higher speeds. This is very limiting allowing for a total of only 6 missiles to be loaded.

Avionics

The avionics includes two RADARs, one for forward and one for rear detection and tracking. Both have a narrow cone of use, which limit their usefulness close up.
