The CG-P1 is the Cairhienen Corporation's first attempt to build a military gun since the dearmament. It is a simple gauss pistol, meaning it uses an electro magnet, rather than explosives, to propel the projectile out of the barrel.
The P1 is only a single stage gauss cannon, limiting it's escape velocity, and therefore it's range, but does allow for a shorter barrel and more compact overall gun.
The P1 uses a 5mm diameter, 25mm long cylinder (with both ends brought to a point so it is omni-directional) of a dense non-ferromagnetic classified material as ammo, and is incompatible with standard pistol ammo because it works on a totally different principle. On the up side, there is no casing to eject, since the bullet is the entirety of the ammo, it emits no sound when fired, and has a lesser recoil than most pistols..
Despite the small caliber, the ammo is dense, and the gun provides a high muzzle velocity, leading to a stopping power only slightly less than the .45 Desert Eagle.
