The tribe was ruled by a lone chief, who ruled until death. Succession was not inherited, it was determined by a test. When t chief felt he was near death, he called upon the spiritual leaders of the tribe, and ordered that the strongest young men be taken to the sea. They conduct a secret test, only known by the oldest priests. All that is known is that the man who is victorious comes back happier than ever, and the others came back traumatized, unable to do anything for at least a month.

Religion

The Corleones, like most other tribes, were polytheistic. Their main gods were: Aquaos, the god of the sea; Tierof, the god of land anf farming; and Solol, the god of the sun. They had many religious ceremonies to please the gods, in which the priests chanted prayers, wore masks, and told myths. The ceremonies usually ended with the entire tribe dancing around (or in) a representation of the god being praised (for example, if it were a ceremony for Aquaos, the tribe would dance in the rivers or the sea).

History

Origins

According to myth, Solol looked to the Earth and saw it was empty, a void. This greatly troubled Solol, who consulted with Aquaos and Tierof. All three decided to help create a people to fill the Earth. Tierof gave the Earth rich soil, food from the ground and trees, and animals to hunt. Aquaos gave the Earth water to drink. Finally, Solol gave the Earth warmth and light, to remind the people of the gods. The light shone brightest on Grocolia, enabling the Corleones to come into existence.

Peaceful Times

The Corleones thrived on the Grocolian peninsula for hundreds of years. Around 7500 BCE, the Corleones stopped seasonal migration and settled on the western coast of the peninsula. They fished, hunted and picked fruit from the many trees. Many consider this the first permanent settlement in Europe.

Migration

With knowledge of the impending threat of another Grocolian tribe, the Ciabotti's, the Corleones fled from their settlement by sea. The tirbe was split up in a storm, most members dying. The few ships remaining landed on two islands. On the north island, the Corleones landed. On the south, The Medici's, whose name was changed soon after landing on the island.
