The People's Confederation Crunge is one of PEEL's newest additions to the political arena.
The history of The Crunge began in the clan society of Nogo-Nogo. The Nogotian colony in the Eastern Outlying territories was a small archepelego of island chains, known as Nogori-la each of which with their own very different cultures and customs. However, the entire confederacy answered to the Khan back in New Europe. Because of being a far-off provincial colony, much animosity grew within the colony towards the motherland.
This hatred culminated in a massive civil war which engulfed the dozens to tribes and clans within the Nogotian Empire. The civil war completely devestated the country, and the Khan was overthrown. The Nogori-lan colony was no exception, with a massive naval battles occuring between the islands and tribes.
After months of bloody conflict, the civil war ended in New Europe with Nogo-Nogo being divided between it's powerful neighbors, Teral and Nurdbotia. Back in Nogori-la, the conflict also ended with a clan known as "The Crunge" forging an alliance with a number of other tribes and forcing a ceasefire. A provincial government was set up, a republican council of all the clans in the colony to equally govern all the islands and territories. The newly-founded nation was called "The Crunge", after the largest and most powerful island clans in the country.
In the months following it's creation, the Crunge was beginning to become noticed by the international community little by little. In a shocking move in the summer of 2053, the council voted nationalize the hundreds of foreign interests and corporations still in place since before the Nogotian civil war. This caught the attention of the powerful COMECON Alliance, which was then led by Nurdbotia, Ivorila, and Pastocia. Pastocia, always on the lookout for new recruits saw potential in the newly-formed nation to bring the socialist political philosophy to the area, and after meeting with the Crungan High Council and coming to terms, Pastocia lobbied for The Crunge's entrance into the COMECON. It was approved in early 2054 and was the treaty's first new addition after the Dominion Wars a year earlier.
In the months following the entrance into COMECON, The Crunge was given a new lease on life through cooperation efforts within the alliance. With new COMECON officials, and foreign visiters and immigrants flowing steadily into the country, and large-scale funding from it's new allies, The Crunge was fully able to repair the huge amount of damage which still lingered after the Nogotian Civil War. New schools and hospitals were built and The Crunge slowly made the transformation into a communist nation.
However, unlike it's powerful allies within COMECON, The Crunge has shown itself to be firmly anti-war. The High Council has repeatedly called for the ceasing of nuclear weapon research and the reduction pf COMECON's massive defense budget in the interest of regional safety. Environmental protection is another pressing issue in the Crunge, and the preservation of the beautiful Crungan island chain is top priority, taking the place of defense and law and order in it's yearly budget.
In recent months, the Crunge has steadily moved up the COMECON hiearchy ladder, and as many hope, will help put a friendlier face on the growingly hated alliance...
