The Den HQ was founded by General Franks after the founder of 'The Den', General Tommy Franks was deleted (along with his puppet nations, New Den) for apparently making threats to another player. Following the deletion of General Tommy Franks, the DEN founder mysteriously disappeared for three days, during which time the once-proud invading region was occupied by the forces of Tito. Despite a valiant effort led by Brigadier Debugistan of the DEN, Tito was able to hold the region. Several days later, when the dust was settling, the Den's missing-in-action leader returned minus his first name as General Franks. Having agreed with Debugistan to let the members of DEN decide who should lead the organization in its revival, he then renaged on this agreement, apparently telling Debugistan "I am Den". Debugistan was accused of treason and forced to leave the DEN. Other senior members of the organization have since retired and, since its move to the new "DEN HQ", the lion that once was the DEN has lost its roar. To cap a poor month for him, General Franks later lost his other main nation, Mississippi Rio (founder of Ille de France). This sudden deletion (due to threatening another nation with actions which are the sole responsibility of the moderators) surprised many in the ostensibly tolerant region of Ille de France who were unaware of the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde nature of their founder's Nationstates persona. Certainly, as General Franks would say himself, it is hard to "get traction" on all his antics, but it seems the labyrinthine web that the DEN leader and IDF founder has woven in Nationstates is currently fast unravelling...
