The East Pacific is one of the six super regions of NationStates, known collectively as the Pacifics. The East Pacific is aligned with the South Pacific, the West Pacific, the People's Republic of the Pacific, and the the Heartland. It is staunchly opposed to the Alliance Defense Network. The East Pacific is a Member of The League of the Pacifics

Due to the rapid dumping of his inbox, Gnidrah, the region's Delegate, prefers that all lobbying for UN resolutions be broached via the Offsite forum.

History (OOC)

  • The region was founded by Hitler the Great on the orders of Nusseburg from the Atlantic Central Command due to the urgings of MrNonchalant. It was then subsequently taken by a group of pirates and around this point became a feeder. As a feeder region, it rapidly grew to accomodate hosts of newly founded nations.
  • On May 25th, 2003, 1 Infinite Loop became UN Delegate (having been handed the position by former UN Delegate Lotlanthanderamore). Originally, Loop believed he was only taking the position temporarily while Lotlanthanderamore dealt with RL issues; ultimately, however, Lotlanthanderamore never returned, leaving Loop with the Delegacy.
  • On October 31st, 2003, 1 Infinite Loop ratified the Articles of Confederation, creating the Confederate States of the East Pacific.
  • Shortly after the beginning of 1 Infinite Loop's Delegacy, the region suffered an attack by griefers. In the ensuing confusion, the East Pacific successfully defended itself against various outside interferences and invasions, most notably an expansionist move by The Rejected Realms, led by a nascent Kandarin.
  • Briefly after this attack a Griefer Armada called the National Stalinists attacked using a Preendorsement Loophole to seize the Delegacy. 1 Infinite Loop was online at the time and was instrumental in aiding the Moderators in catching them by providing a screencapture of the delegate's Endorsements. This Screencap allowed the moderators to break up a UN Multi ring of 80 + nations.
  • On the 18th of February, 2005, the Articles of Confederation were superceded by the Charter of The East Pacific. The Charter was drawn up by the nations of The East Pacific to address failings in the Articles of Confederation and to address broad policy for the future of the East Pacific. The current government was then established based on these articles.
  • On May 25th, 2006, after exactly three years as UN Delegate, 1 Infinite Loop retired, turning over the delegacy to Ambassador General Gnidrah. 1 Infinite Loop did not leave NS, however; he served as Grand Vizier (equivalent of the Prime Minister) of the East Pacific for some time afterwards, until being replaced by Kangarawa. He also served as United Nations Liaison to the Delegate of the East Pacific, before being replaced by Emperor Matthuis, and currently serves as a magister in the Legislative Branch of the East Pacific.

  • Confederation Day: October 31st; date of the ratification of the East Pacific Articles of Confederation and the founding of the Confederate States of the East Pacific.
  • Delegates Day: May 25th; date of the ascendancy of both 1 Infinite Loop and Gnidrah to the Delegacy.
  • Charter Day: February 18th; unnoficial holiday celebrating the creation of the Charter of the East Pacific.

History (IC)

  • The East Pacific has a long and well-known traditional of Roleplaying. Although no one has yet attempted to go through and summarize history, some of the main events can be noted. Additionally, due to a lack of agreement on time, limited information on the time of events will be given.
  • -During the 1910s and 1920s, three major events of note took place. The first was the Krechziankan Civil War, which was ultimately won by the Krechziankan Communist Party (the group that did rebel). The Last War of the States took place, ending with a stalemate, and the creation of the Alliance of Free Pacific States. The final major event was the collapse of the Packo Empire, which had ruled much of the mainland of the East Pacific for a few hundred years.
  • -During the 1930s and 40s, 1 Infinite Loop launched it's major imperialist campaign, invading much of the East Pacific and defeating the United States. Perhaps the most famed of it's invasions, however, was that of the Alliance of Free Pacific States. A large alliance of seven nations that was quickly becoming a superpower, 1IL slaughtered FPS nonetheless, taking 40% of the alliance before it came together for defense, and taking 90% of the newly formed Federated Alliance of Free Pacific States' territory before any serious victory by defensive forces was seen.
  • -During the 1950s, 1IL was invaded by the Lizards, a space race from another planet. Despite the best efforts of 1IL, ultimately, the nation fell to the Lizards. Within several years, most of those nations invaded by 1IL during the 30s and 40s had sucesfully fought off the remnant Looplite armies (notably FPS, which then unified into a single true nation post-war). Sometime during the late fifties, a war between Kandarin and 1IL also took place, with 1IL quickly defeating the Kandarinese in naval combat, though no ground war was every fought due to a quick peace treaty.
  • -During the 1960s, Kandarin saw a major internal movement by it's human population, which wished for equal rights. Though there would be only light involvement on other nations, the movement would have a major effect on Kandarin's future.
  • -There were lots of hippies in the 1970's.
  • -During the 1980s, Dannistaan saw a massive civil war, which, though involving no other nations, would have a continual effect on Dannistaan for years to come. This included ongoing disagreements between East Dannistaan, the state which instigated the war, and the other 4 states in the nation.
  • -During the 1990s, not much happened. Except Ojay Simpson.
  • -In 2000s, EP international events picked up severely. First, the war between 1 Infinite Loop and Packilvania, which spawned the creation of Unimatrix Zero (the cylon nation), and the ending of 1IL's time as a nation viewed as the most powerful EP Power. Though technically ending in a stalemate (with the peace treaty signed in FPS), most nuetral historians see it as a Packilvanian victory.
  • -There was then a brief period of peace, before the Packo-Wachovian war (better known as the Trioni incident), which saw Wachovia as the victor as a result of the succesful rebellion of General Tlant against Packilvanian Ruler "Father." On the side of Wachovia, this would result in a period of isolationism, as the nation recovered from the war that had taken place almost 90% of the time on it's soil. On the side of Packilvania, there was little difference, as the Pax Empire was soon founded under Tlant.
  • -Soon after this event was the Dovakhan Incident, which resulted in a war between the Capitalist Coalition (East Malyasia and Xiopothos) and the People's Pact (Krechzianko, Vladistock Island, and the Aquinas Net), with the Pax Empire siding with the Capitalist Coalition. The event originalyl spawned from the Dovakhanese Civil War, in which Dovakhanese Communists attempted to take the nation. The war ended with stalemate, Matthew Terrus brokering a peace deal that gave Dovakhan to the Pax and Capitalist Coalition as a mandate, and the Samonides Republic (another nuetral brought into the fray) to the People's Pact as a mandate.
  • -Soon after this event was the Nekomimi Flu Epidemic, which wiped through the East Pacific, having the most major efects in the 1 Infinite Loop and the Free Pacific States. Though no cure has yet to be found, the virus appears to have died out nonetheless.
  • -During this time, Dannistaan began peacekeeping operations in Tyrsis. It is now bogged down in an ongoing insurgency movement in that nation.
  • -The West Malyasia vs. East Malyasia, Kandarin, Sparta Nuva, the EPTO, and Free Pacific States War occured soon after the flu. Ultimate victory by the allied forces, assisted by WM Rebels.
  • -A situation involving a Pax takeover of FPS infrastructure is playing out. The result of this situation could decide the fate of FPS (as either a Hive State, or a Free State).
  • -A conflict betwee Reziel and Airbus UK is currently raging. Dovakhan and Kangarawa is attempting to provide humanitarian aid to the civilians in Airbus UK.

Government of the EP

The East Pacific Government broadly follows the three-body system (Executive, Legislative, Judiciary) as exemplified in the United States of America. The Executive position is occupied by the Delegate, and said position is elected for life; hence campaigning for the delegacy is prohibited. The delegate has appointed a number of cabinet members to assist him in his work, and created a number of cabinet offices to assist those cabinet members. The highest cabinet office is that of the Grand Vizier, who replaces the Delegate in the case of the Delegate's incapacitation.

The legislative house (known as the Magisterial Assembly) operates along the lines of the Houses of Parliament (United Kingdom), although it is only a monocameral assembly. The head of the Assembly is accorded the title of Consul, and is responsible for maintaining order within the Assembly, as well as communicating with the rest of government.

The judicial house (known as the Supreme Court) operates along the line of the US Supreme Court. Whereas the US Supreme Court must have nine justices, however, the EP Supreme Court must always have an odd number of Praetors (Justices), up to a maximum of 7, one of whom is appointed to serve as the Viceroy (Chief Justice). At the very least, a Viceroy is required. Barristers (attorneys) argue in the Supreme Court for a variety of reasons, ranging from criminal trials to constitutionality trials.

  • Order of Gryphons Recently the East Pacific began negotiations with the Order of the Gryphons for a regional chapter.

Popular Sports

The East Pacific has only a few popular regional sports, they are avid fans of hockey, with most of the nations within the region hosting at least one team.

Notable teams are the (to be named) East Pacific Hockey Championship champions of last year, Packilvania "Rocks" (who are currently being investigated for possible cybernetics abuse), as well as the Infinite Loop "Pirates", whose Head Coach former basketball coach Bobby Knight who cost the team two victories due to his Chair Throwing habits.

The East Pacific also activly competes in the team Mornington Crescent tournaments which are currently in preliminaries and will this year be shown on ESPN 8 "The Ocho", IL's DuMont Network, as well as on most local Public Radio stations on your AM Dial.
