In a former incarnation, the Federation of Island States Treaty, or FIST, acted as a loose coalition of island nations in the Eastern Shrimpkin Ocean. After political calamity in Sargus, Slimmonean disinterest, and Buscemistan's withdrawal from the treaty in 2054, FIST effectively ceased to be anything more than a piece of paper to many in PEELian international politics.

As of May 10th, 2057, the FIST experienced new life. It was on this day that Buscemistani Tribune Antonin Sulpizio declared during a routine press conference that the treaty would be reformed with the addition of two new member states, Rubakava and Port Magellan. These two, together with Sargus and Buscemistan, now make up the membership of the new FIST.

Terms of the Treaty

  • A collective non-aggression pact between all member nations is understood.
  • All member nations receive "favoured trade partner" status with one another.
  • In association with PEELMA, there will be a general freedom of the seas enforced by all member nations.

Future Considerations

  • While nothing is official, the terms of a mutual defence agreement are being discussed.
  • Border restrictions on citizens of member nations may be relaxed, though security is still a concern at the moment.
  • As in the old FIST agreement, continental powers may be considered for membership, though it seems unlikely at the moment.
