The Firm

The Firm

The Firm is a government owned and run company in the Nation of Cervax. The primary role of the Firm was to employ all those who committed opinion crimes and were deemed unfit for employment in private companies. The Firm does not pay a salary, but simply entitles a person to the minimum food quota each week, and allows them metered use of electricity, water, gas, phone and internet servives in their home. If the employee requires any other goods not covered by their food ration they must apply througth the Firm, and if accepted their items will be delivered. Luxury food items and goods are rarely, if ever, accepted.

The Secure Wings

The Firm was later expanded to incorperate the Cervax Prison System, and effectively turned it into a profit organisation. New, secure versions of Firm factories, plants and warehouses were constructed next to each of the original prison facilities. Inmates now work 12 hour days in the Firm facilies anexed to the prisons, and all work is unpaid. They are fed, housed and clothed by the prison system. When they have served their sentence they are released into a Firm Rehabilitation Village where they will continue to work for The Firm (there is nothing else they can do) and are treated as stated above.
