The Global Library resolution marks the first time that a resolution sponsor changed its vote during the course of the debate. Great Agnostica was convinced by nations opposed to the resolution to make changes and actually advocated against this resolution prior to the end of the voting. Great Agnostica started a draft replacement proposal during the debate on this resolution and incorporated many of the complaints against this resolution in the replacement. The resolution was repealed a little over a month after being adopted and then replaced by the Universal Library Coalition Social Justice resolution.

The Global Library
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Description:
This Resolution hereby say’s that we instate a system to put all human knowledge in to it. It will be called the Global Library. It will be Free and it will be accessible to all. The information that will be within the libraries are the News, All Books, Medicine Reports, Magazines, Laws of Every Nation and their Local Governments, and finally Biographies on some the most influential people during human history.


Now these libraries will be located in all member nations in their most popular cities. There is will be also a new Technology within these Libraries which is called Holographic imaging. A holographic image will appear of a person and it will help you find what you are looking for and once you do it will turn into what you want you’re self.


For the people that live far from the library they will be getting another new technology that is called the Holographic wrist band. It is the same thing as in the library except it is for on the go. All they have to do is come once and get one or call and ask for it to be shipped (free of charge) to them.


Finally the cost of this. We will pay for this by donation. There will a goal to be set and once we reach it we can start building.

Gameplay impacts

The resolution had no direct impacts on changing the way NationStates was played. However, the large number of spin off threads on the Jolt UN forum during the UN Floor Debate, helped lead to the current moderation practice of changing the name of the thread for a resolution at vote to clearly direct forum posters to comment in a single thread.

The forum moderators attempted to lock many of the spin-off threads during the debate of this resolution. Those unofficial debate threads are included below in the additional materials section in order to illustrate what was a common practice, largely on the behalf of non-regular posters on Jolt's United Nations forum. However, since those threads were not sanctioned as the official debate, they are placed towards the bottom of the reference materials and can be considered unofficial discussions (perhaps based on converstations overheard in the hallways of the United Nations).
