Nation Facts

The Holy Empire of the Holy Son is the last surviving seat of Innocent III, Pope from 1198 to 1216. Preferring the mountains to the decay of Rome, Innocent moved to this remote corner of the Piedmont, and the land that was the papal estate has now become its own nation, immune to the advances of all save the Vatican itself.

A war between the two actually occurred in 1954, with a detachment of the Swiss Guard actually invading Holy Empire. Several on both sides were severely pronged by halberds before a truce was called.

A Timeline of Recent History:

27 March - the Holy Army of the Holy Son, first planned to keep the status quo, but after facing a large, powerful nation as a neighbor, the leaders of the Holy Army of the Holy Son decide to ask for pirot sositee, acceptance into the confederation (of Borrados). Father Thomas, the leader of the Holy Army cites the high level of autonomy granted to Borriad sosiha, as well as the military benefits of joining. The area plans to change its name to the sosi of Oraculum (Oraculum sositee in Borriad). The process of becoming a member of the confederation of Borrados is expected to take several months. In the meantime, Oraculum will be granted military protection, if Avalyic occupation of western part of the island proves to be hostile. --Later that Day-- In a dramatic turn of events, the people of the Holy Son, along with nearly 85% of the standing army, staged a revolt against Fahter Thomas and his men once it was known to them what was planned for their future. At approximately 5:15, Father Thomas was executed by a mob of angry villagers and militia, for high crimes against the Holy Son. In the minutes preceding the execution, a villager shouted his support for joining the confederacy, "Friends, why don't we join the confederacy? Our leaders have been neglecting us for a very long time! There is a place for us in the confederacy" Before the mob could get to him, a lightning bolt from the cloudless sky struck him down, thus affirming that God was still with the people of the Holy Son and their heroic defense of their own sovereignty against the scheming confederacy. From his perch at the Vatican, his holiness the Pope, has sent his blessings to the people of the Holy Son, claiming that God had come to him in dream and told him to provide any and all reinforcements necessary to aid the people of their former colony in keeping heathens out and God in. Currently the people of The Holy Son are reforming their government, and there is no telling what will happen next. All that is known is that a great vidtory has been won today by God's people, and that there is a substantial portion of the army of the Holy Son still intact and has set up base near the Northern border to protect the nation from barbaric heathen intrusion.

24 April - (From WCROS) Oraculum (Today): After weeks of bickering over how the new government of The Holy Son would be run, salvation has come from the Creator himself. Earlier this week, Bob Jones was found in a field by traffic reporter Mary Solomon, who was pointed to the location by a strange formation that Jones's sheep had formed. "It was just a strangest thing," says Mary Solomon, reporter for WCROS television, "the sheep had all lined up, creating a giant cross. I mean, have you ever seen nearly one hundred sheep form a cross before? And that Jones man was there, lying in the center of it. I new it had to be a miracle." Jones, a simple shepherd from a remote village somewhere between Oraculum and Innocent City, was found in the middle of a mass of his sheep, who had reportedly formed a cross around this man. Mary Solomon was soon on the scene, where she found that Bob Jones was not in good shape. Jones was rushed to a hospital where it was later revealed that he had been struck by lightning, and was now in a persistent vegetative state. Now, in many other countries Jones would have been killed right then, but in The Holy Son is a nation that dearly values human life. The plug was not pulled on Bob Jones, and the Lord be praised that it was not. Just a day after he was found in a field, Bob Jones started having convulsions, and also started to mumble. Witnesses say that Bob Jones was quoting scripture. Jones was then rushed to the Oraculum National Hospital for further investigation. All the while, Bob Jones was mumbling Psalm 100:3, which reads: "Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his, we are his people, the sheep of his pasture." Truly this man, whose brain function is comparable to that of a paramecium, is a miracle. It was decided by the people of The Holy Son that Bob Jones speaks the word of the Lord himself. Bob Jones is the chosen one, for the words of God flow through him like a river, he can provide direction to a nation that has for weeks lacked it. At approximately 12:43PM today, Bob Jones was declared the official ruler of The Holy Son. We anxiously await the next words of our new leader.Today marks the turning of a page in the book of The Holy Son.
