Background

The Lexicon was created by several players who believed that there was more to Nationstates than simply answering a daily question!

Most of our original players have been deeply involved in the politics of the whole Nationstates (NS) game, some for nearly two years!

Nationstates is one of those games that you think you understand in 5 minutes, but even the players that have been around for a couple of years admit that they are still learning!

Whatever your understanding, we can learn from each other! We can all expand the game!

Welcome

We welcome all nations to join The Lexicon and build both our community and our development as a region.

We have much to offer as a region, whatever your desired involvement and are always looking to encourage talented players to get the most out of being part of our community.

Over the coming year, we will be expanding all of our activities and hope you too will enjoy becoming a Lexiconian.

What can I do in The Lexicon?

• Politics - Not everyone's cup of tea, but we are developing a political system of Government including improving our regional charter and all aspects of managing our region.
• International Relations - Creating and developing our relations with other regions.
• Intelligence - Keeping the Lexicon at the forefront of the intelligence ladder, allowing our players to remain some of the best informed in the whole of Nationstates.
• Military - For our own regional security and to protect the shores of our allies, throughout Nationstates.
• Community - A home for all Lexiconians, with games and fun for all our members to play and chat.
• Training - Teaching players all aspects of Nationstates and learning from each other.
• Organisation - Building The Lexicon Organisation, of member regions. This is explained more clearly in other parts of the forum.
• Minister - Those that work hard for our region, can expect to earn respect and enter positions of leadership.
• Delegacy - One of the most powerful positions, the Delegacy of The Lexicon could be yours if you are determined to help build our region.

How do I become a Lexiconian?

If you feel that you would like to make a home here and become involved there are three things that you will need to do.

1. Move or create a nation to reside in "The Lexicon" (If you are unsure on how to do this, simply ask and we will advise you).
2. Take the oath of membership, which can be found here (click) (Link to be fixed!)
3. Not essencial, but advised so that we can all get to know you; open a "New topic" to introduce yourself.

What if I decide The Lexicon is not for me after I have signed up?

Hopefully this will not be the case, but it is no problem, simply contact one of the founders and we will take care of it for you.

Who and what are the Founders of The Lexicon?

There are five players who founded The Lexicon; Insane Power, Wilkshire, Shoeless Joe, Fulhead Land and Cathyy. All of them met through Nationstates and became friends. Three of them have been Delegate of a feeder region all five of them have held some of the most important positions in Nationstates. Between them they have been involved in virtually every aspect of the game and hope their knowledge will be of great value to all our members. All are dedicated to making The Lexicon amongst the greatest regions in Nationstates and all are wanting to help players develope their game.

Shoeless Joe is American, and aside from Wilkshire our resident Welshman the other founders are English, but we welcome players from across the globe to join and together improve the region we all care so much about.

I hope you find something here that attracts you. Every Lexiconian welcomes you to join and find your place in our great region.

History

In the early part of the 21st Century, without warning the earth moved violently off its pivitol rotation, shifting both The North and South poles.

Whilst this phenominom had been predicted many times, the devastation was nowhere near what had been anticipated in the immediate aftermarth. Loss of life was minimal and there were no expected tidal rises. As fast as the water defrosted from the poles, it refroze in their new location.

The nothern part of Canada and Australia, suffered the worst, both becoming partially covered in ice where tempertures plumetted.

A group of people from The North Pacific took the long and risky voyage to explore the area around the previous north pole. Their yacht unexpectedly hit rock and started to break up...in the rough still freezing waters they swam for the only visable landmark...of those aboard the yacht only 5 survived to reach the shores of a previously ice covered land... Roughly the size of France, this previously unknown island was to prove very fertile and temprementally wonderful land, the five decided to stay, they founded the land...The Lexicon

At first things were by no means easy.

Shipwrecked with little more than the clothes they stood up in the five pioneers knew that they could build something good but that it would take effort and determination.

It was tempting to take life easy for a while. They needed time to adjust to the new surroundings and each other. Each day was a voyage of discovery as they explored their new home.

The sun shone warmly and the days were filled with laughter and fun as they built their first makeshift shelter - amid much hilarity as time and time again it collapsed. It didn't perhaps help that they had discovered a naturally fermented fruit which they ate with rather too wild abandon!

In fact strangely enough it was that fruit which almost led to their first disaster. It had been found quite by chance and despite all the remonstrations of the more sensible of the five it had been agreed that someone would sample it, risking life and limb if it were poisonous.

Indeed after several mouthfuls IP (and of course it HAD to be him who insisted on the experiment!) rolled his eyes and sank down into the sand.

Fearing the worst Fulhead Land, who fortunately remembered his CPR training leapt on IP and started pumelling his chest. He was therefore rather surprised when IP leapt up, almost giving Fulhead a black eye! and started laughing rather strangely!

'Fooled you!'

Of course it would have to have been IP who discovered alcohol and pretty soon the whole five were eating the rather delicious fruit.

An uproarious evening followed - the tales of which are told to this day but not of course in front of small children or Great Auntie Mabel

Saint Oz was commanding his 2 ship fleet to make way to new land. Once caught into a storm his ship lost its other ship. Once Saint Oz woke up he found his ship in ruins and all his men under his command died of Alcohol posioning when they found the hidden wine cellar in the ship. Oz damned their souls and then continued. He grabbed the ships flag and put it in the ground saying, "This is the Land of Saint Oz and I declare it!"

He founded the city of Zepedis which contained his temporary palace (a collection of sticks and grass forming a hut.)

Once done with the city he went down the beach head. What he saw was amazing! More land. He began to swim towards it in the scholes. Oz made it after an hour of swimming. He was all pruny on his finger nails but he continued. He took out his dripping wet Saint Hat (like a pope hat). He placed it on his head and looked around the beach. He saw to his right a strange group of 5 people.

Current Events

Currently (RP-wise) The Lexicon is home to two grand coalitions, with a number of neutrals and rogue states. The PLTO (Pan Lexiconian Treaty Organization, called "plato") and the MDP (Mutual Defense Pact). The PLTO was founded in the Breaker Island Conference with intent to prevent warfare and create peace (and free trade). It is held together with a dose of reason from Yellowstone Valley.
