The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Crown Imperial is a New Britannian order of chivalry. It is the pinnacle of the New Britannian system of honour, being one of the greatest and most prestigous awards granted by the monarch to a subject of the New Britannian Crown. Members of this most exalted order are known as Knights Imperial and Ladies Imperial.

History

The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Crown Imperial, or The Order of the Crown Imperial for short, was founded by King Caleb I in 2006, however membership was not granted until 2007. Thus far only two women have ever been made Ladies Imperial and those are the first and second wives of King Caleb I, Queen Isabella and Queen Ashley.

The Order

Membership

Membership in The Order is extremely limited and includes the monarch of New Britannian Empire, the Crown Prince, and not more than 25 others. The monarch alone can grant membership. He is known as the "Sovereign of The Order". Male members of the Order are titled "Knights Imperial," and female members are called "Ladies Imperial." Formerly, the Sovereign filled vacancies upon the nomination of the members. Today members are appointed by the sovereign acting alone. However, suggestions can be, and often are, made by current members of The Order. Membership can be revoked by the sovereign alone if the member in question commits a crime against the empire of the monarchy, or disgraces The Order.

Officers

The Order has three officers: the Prelate, the Chancellor, and the Register. The office of Prelate is traditionally held by one of the senior bishops of the Church of New Britannia. The office of Chacellor is appointed by the King, but is traditionally the Prime Minister. The office of Register is elected by other members of The Order. The Chancellor is the highest authority in The Order besides the King. He gets two votes on any one matter of The Order to be voted on. The Prelate is the religious authority of The Order, making sure that all Knights Imperial maintain the faith. The Register is in charge of organising all cerimonial aspects of The Order.
