The Northern Baltic's offical name is the United Socalist States of the Northern Baltic (USSNB). It was the first country to establish the Terretories of South Arctica after the Treaty of Antartica expired in 2020. A strong military has allowed for the region to be relativly stable, although small scale revolutions break out every now and then.

History

The Northern Baltic was first established by vikings speaking an early form of Russian. These vikings settled the region from 70-150 CE. Their rule of the native people in the region was relativly lax, and as a result, marrage was common between the two groups. What later became the capital of the empire of the Northern Baltic was founded in the year 1300. The city was a port called Cinder and it soon became a center of commerce for the region. Fourteen years later, the city of Bekkr was founded after many precious metals were found in the mountains near the small town. Thus, The Northern Baltic's first gold rush occured. The gold rush lasted five years and turned Bekkr from a small fort town to the second largest in the empire.

In ~1430, a small group of Chinese saliors were seperated from their exploration group and landed their junk on land near the settlements of Cinder and Bekkr. The Chinese brought many new ideas to The Northern Baltic and quickly an alliance was established between them. Unable to contact the homeland, the Chinese sailors made several camps for themselves on the island. As rescue became less and less likely, the camps became cities. It wasn't long before the small population of 200 Chinese grew to 10,000. It was due to the Chinese ideas that the idea of culture came into being and finnaly the once nomadic tribes that settled in the region began to devolp an alphabet, explore philosophy, and explore science.

In 1580, The Great Winter War of 1580 occured. A regional conflict ensued after gold was discovered in disputed territories and thousands of men belonging to several different tribes and countries were involved. The Battle of Horse's Canyon was the first large conflict in this war. The Republic of Shujun was able to capture the high ground early on in this battle and was able to repel the waves of attacks. The Northern Baltic was able to secure a victory in the Flaming Hills. The turning point for the Battle of the Flaming Hills was when The Northern Baltic's army was being pushed back and the battle seemed lost, Mount Vasa erupted completly decimating the barbarian lines.
