A gravitationally stable area in Earth orbit, these settlements have become a new homeland for Coordinators. Their unique design also enables them to recreate a lush natural environment, with abundant vegetation and open water. The PLANTs is a super state region, meaning its one nation and all states inside it are provinces of the PLANTs PLANT stands for "People Liberation Acting Nation of Technology"
The PLANTs is a country that is governed constitutionally as one single unit, with one constitutionally created legislature. The political power of government in such states may well be transferred to lower levels, to regionally or locally elected assemblies, governors and mayors but the central government retains the principal right to recall such delegated power.
Earlier on in the Cosmic Era
In the Cosmic Era, the present-day United Nations funded the idea of constructing new space colonies originally as manufacturing and research facilities. Known as PLANTs (Productive Location Ally on Nexus Technology) these hourglass shaped colonies were primarily manned by Coordinators. Over time, they became a haven and eventually the permanent home of the vast majority of the Coordinator population, fleeing persecution and when the war begin, they became an independent nation. The PLANTs was divided into 12 groups known as "Cities," each one named for a month of the Roman calendar (i.e. Aprilius, Junius)but more have been added. The PLANT Supreme Council is an executive committee of twelve elected members, each representing a sector (or "city") of the groupings of the PLANTs. Each member is also assigned to one of five committees (Judicial, Administrative, Legislative, Diplomatic, and National Defense), each with its own chair. The committees are governed overall by the Supreme Council Chair. Today’s PLANT Supreme Council is much larger but the assigned areas are the same (mostly.)
The Members not listed here make up the Rest of the Council. The reason they are not listed on the chart above is because they do not play a large role in the main Government area’s but they do sit in the Chambers in the surrounding Galleries and can argue and vote on proposals that are put forward. The Constitution of the PLANTs
Section One
We the People of the PLANTs write this document to insure that our rights and freedoms are preserved and noted. Let this document serve as a guide to all the people of the PLANTs. Every one in the PLANTs will enjoy these rights, and have an obligation to uphold the laws that allow these rights and freedoms to exist. Let all the provinces of the PLANTs super state (Meaning states with in the PLANTs) unit and fight for these rights forever.
The PLANTs is one nation with all states inside acting as it's provinces, they may pass laws as they choice in their states, but they can not go to war or trade with other nations. The Council will decide those issue's. This is federal system, nations run their own provincial government meaning that they are not independent nations. Any nation may join the PLANTs but they must BE MADE AWARE THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER AN INDEPENDENT NATION. As a member nation you must have a ZAFT/PLANTs flag and a motto that fits with PLANTs beliefs. The military is controlled by ZAFT not the provinces. Once you enter the PLANTs you may not go to war on your own and all issues above the one's that you will encounter in your nation is left to discussion in the Council.
Section Two
Freedoms
The people of the PLANTs may also enjoy the fundamental freedoms as well.
A) freedom of conscience and religion;
B) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
C) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
D) freedom of association.
Section Three
Democratic rights and freedoms
These rights and freedoms grants the election process is persevered in a fair and moral way. You have the right to vote for whoever you choose and need not worry of any persecution afterwords. There well be no avoiding elections, they MUST be held. A Chairperson can hold power for as long he/she continues to win elections.
A) Individuals of the PLANTs may vote for any candidate. In the spirit of freedom and justice, officials may not repremend those that voted against them and must respect their ideals.
B) Elected Officials cannot amend the constitution unless improving of civil rights or rewording. The constitution can be suspended in the event of drastic emergencies but requires a unanimous vote by the Supreme Council.

All citizens of the PLANTs are free to go anywhere at their own convenience.
Section Five
Legal Rights
A) Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice.
B) Everyone has the right not to be arbitrarily detained or imprisoned.
C) Everyone on arrest or detention has the right to be informed of the accused offense, legal representation and to proper, civil treatment. Everyone has the right to a fair trial.
D) NOBODY is above the law, no matter what their position.

Equality Rights
Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, mental or physical disability or genetic structure. However, this does not preclude any law, program or activity that has as its object the amelioration of conditions of disadvantaged individuals or groups including those that are disadvantaged because of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, mental or physical disability or genetic structure.
The people of the PLANTs have the right to defend themselves from themselves.

ZAFT
ZAFT (Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty) is the military branch of the PLANTs government. Specifically, ZAFT usually refers to the military side of organization. It was originally formed as a political organization known as the Zodiac Alliance by Siegel Clyne and Patrick Zala in C.E. 50, to peacefully fight for the rights and independence of Coordinators. The Zodiac Alliance was renamed "ZAFT" in C.E. 65, but became a military organization only three years later. ZAFT's military is today formed around a tight rank system. However it was not always that way, organized as a militia rather than the Earth Alliance's OMNI Enforcer military force, using positional titles as ranks rather than more traditional ones. The rank system was formed in CE 94. FAITH
FAITH(Fast Acting Integrated Tactical Headquarters) is an elite subset of ZAFT personnel that have remarkable war records and certain character traits. They are appointed by the PLANT council or the Chairman, to whom they are solely answerable. Their authority is above those of Squadron Commanders, and can presumably give strategic orders on the spot or override any orders given to them by anyone other than the Council.

New ZAFT weapons that have reaplaced most of the older one's in their areas. All of these systems are online right now.
Chroniton -Transphasic -Anti-matter Torpedoes. These torpedoes were based on temporal science, and existed in a constant state of temporal flux. This allowed them to pass unhindered through the shields of enemy ships. The Transphasic part allows them to hit targets on the entire subspace spectrum, even ships with the phased clock. Most often called CTA Torpedoes. These torpedoes are easy to make and work with existing ZAFT torpedo launchers. (Are a light purple when fired.)(Standard ZAFT Torpedo as of CE 94)
Quantum resonance – Transphasic- Subatomic disruptor beam cannon.
This weapon has much more of a punch then any anti-matter weapon in use. Able to attack ships on any subspace plain it can take out targets even if the target is in phase. When fired the target gets taken apart at the sub-atomic level. This is part of the anti-EA tech that has been introduced. Able to be installed on ZAFT ships with out much trouble. All that needs to be done is to install the QTSD powers cells and particle focuser. This system requires less energy then the current ZAFT DEW in use. The main firing emitter has two main firing pattern settings of pulse and beam format. (Are a white colored energy)(Standard ZAFT DEW as of CE 94)
New Sensor for getting the interphase clock on the targeting unit
interphasic scanner is a senors program that can be added to the basic ZAFT sensor OS. Able to scan all of the use able sub-space levels with one sweep. These senors once installed have their readings included on all active scans and passive sensors (Passive sensors are the ones that are always on.) rendering the EA’s out dated interphase clock useless.(Standard ZAFT Senors as of CE 94)
New shields. Multi-adaptive- Regenerative- Metaphasic- Multi-spatial-shields or MARMMSM nicked named the Panzer Shields
This highly advanced shield system is a perfect counter to any phased weapons system. Operating on a higher energy modulation then any other weapons system in use. It is practically impenetrable to conventional weapons. Only massive bombardment by Anti-matter and Polaron based weapons can damage these shields. All one needs is to install the new shield generators on our ships. A 3 hour repair stop.(Standard ZAFT Shields as of CE 94)
Artificial intelligence OS This is a system that can out think and out process any EA OS. Programed only to work for coordinator this is such a fundamental part of the program that to remove it would mean you start from sratic. (Standard ZAFT OS as of CE 94)
All these systems use an operating system that is to complicated and fast for any thing below a coordinator to use. As of this point all these weapons are ready to be installed as the ZISB developed this tech in secret since early December. Even if the EA got these systems it would take 12 months to decode one out of the 10,550 lines of program coding and system periodicals.
On the map below you can see the current Earth Occupation Zones. Orb in Green and PLANTs in Red. Since the Earth Alliance's death the PLANTs has expanded it's Earth Lands outside the old areas. A map showing the former Earth Alliance will be provided under the Current map. There currently are 200 million ZAFT troops in the Zones.
