The Red Flag is a major international newsmagazine noted for its strongly-argued editorial stances in favour of democratic socialism. It is owned by the Trades Union Congress, and published through a wholly-owned subsidiary, The Red Flag Publishing Company.

As opposed to a newsmagazine like Global which reports on current events in an objective manner, The Red Flag consists mainly of analysis and editorials in the context of advancing the cause of social justice and socialism globally. Its stance is best described as Trotskyist and while capitalism is regularly criticised by the magazine, its strongest attacks are usually reserved for Stalinist and dictatorial regimes which it regards as perversions.

In recent years the magazine has gained in credibility as a source of economic opinion, recruiting prominent left-wing economists to its editorial staff in the 1990s. In particular, it criticises the emphasis on GDP growth in economic policy and advocates living standard, happiness, and development measurements for economic performance instead.

Other stances consistently adopted in the magazine are anti-fascism, anti-racism, pro-internationalist and anti-war stances, in line with beliefs generally accompanying left-wing politics. Social liberalism is strongly advocated as well; one of its recent features included an expose of anti-homosexual attitudes worldwide and ranked some of the "most homophobic countries". The magazine also criticises the involvement of religion in politics.
