The Republic

The Republic is a small region/alliance, composed of several nations, all whom share similar ideals. The Republic has a Senate, and two consuls, both of whom make important decisions after being elected. It is a safe, yet slightly militaristic society, which prizes peace and stability over all.

History of the Republic

Founding

The Republic was founded by the nation of Taledonia, under the Imperator Mathew Jared Kellerman. During this time, Kellerman sent out word to the people of the universe to come and join the Republic, suceeding in recruiting the first member, Hydrogen-Land. It was a prosperous beginning, with the two nations trading and sharing technology, and the Hydronauts recruited several new members to the Republic.

The False Imperator

The Republic began to decline in universal standings, and conditions of life began to go down as well. The nation of ISF Devastator felt something had to be done, but was blinded by personal goals, and attempted to take control of the Republic for himself, and declaring martial law without much success. The Senator nation of Hydrogen-Land supported ISF, but the others scoffed at their claims to the title of dictator, and lead by Taledonia drove down the would-be dictator. This led to the seperation of Hydrogen-Land and many other members of the Republic to a new alliance called the Iron Fist, where the Hydronauts spread their socialistic ideals to the old Republicans and new recruits of their alliance.

The Stand Off

With the Iron Fist on the rise, and the Republic continually diminishing, a stand-off occured between the last renmants of the dying alliance and the thriving Iron Fist. During this time, the Galactic Empire's attention was turned on the Republic by the nation of Chronosia, and a mighty war raged which almost led to the destruction of the Republic. Fortunatly, the Imperator Kellerman was able to negotiate a truce with the Galactic Empire, and was able to concentrate on a cold war with the Iron Fist once again. In the end, the Iron Fist, fell, and the surviving members sought refuge within the Republic.

The Dark Ages

After the fall of the Iron Fist, the Republic started to gain a semblance of its former glories, and all was well for a short time. Then, however, the loyalist nation of Kazecistan, and the former Fist nations of Hydrogen-Land and Hyperspatial Travel began to squabble for personal power. The new Imperator Alexander, son of the late Mathew Kellerman, was forced to step in and attempt to keep order. The Kazeci, feeling cheated by the Imperators verdict, announced a sucession from the Republic, and faced invasion by the Taledonian Empire, with the Taledonians coming out on top. Afterwards, the former Fist nations began to scwabble with the rest of the loyalist nations, and a civil war occured. The Republic felt heavy strain during this time, and much was lost, leaving the alliance in tatters.

The First Reform

At the end of the civil war, the Republic was re-organised for a more efficient Senate. Under this new system, the Republic slowly rebuilt itself and began to grow again. An era of peace and shaky stability occured during this time, and a universal seclusion seemed to be on, as the Republic had little interaction with the outside until the planet of Kosse, which was shared between the Chronosians and Taledonians, was invaded by the Chronosians who took complete control of it. Another major war broke out, leaving the Republic crippled once again. A time of rebuilding followed, until more civil strife tore the already shaken alliance in two once again, and the nations of Hyperspatial Travel, Hydrogen-Land, Vrone, and the Arcadian Federation left the Republic to form the Alliance of Worlds, or AoW.

The Re-Birth

When the nations left to form the AoW, the delusional Taledonian Emperor Constans Kellerman invaded the League of Hyperspatial Travel, which was the AoW's leader. He successfully burned many of the inner worlds of the league, before returning back to the Empire to deal with a new civil war that started when his younger brother, Julianus Augustus Kellerman, was declared the true Emperor by his province. Constans died on the return trip, and Julian was made Emperor, and quickly had to negotiate a peace with the enraged League. Fortunatly, under the new consulship of Julian and Emperor Tarlvich of Zarathoft, the Republic was reborn in a sense, and began to prosper once again.

The Age of Reforms

The consul Julian, an avid politician and lover of the Republic, introduced many new reforms to the Republic. It was a new time, with new members and new laws. With the permission of the Senate, Julian was able to introduce reforms that combined the armies of the Republican nations into the one public force known as the Legion. He also reformed the government once again to ensure that only those interested in the betterment of the Republic were able to gain a position on the Senate, while establishing a People's Assembly for the citizens to express their opinions and concerns so that the beleagured Senate could better manage the affairs of the Republic.
