The Republic of The Free Irish States (Called simply 'Éire' in Irish) is a 32-county island nation in the region of Keeryu.

History

After the reunification of Ireland, a majority in the 32 counties voted for a federal republic, with each of the four traditional provinces gaining 'state' status within the federal union. The move to a 'state' based system of government, with local parliaments, was seen as the best solution to easing the concerns of Unionists in Ulster. The selection of the 'The Free Irish States' as the offical description of the nation reflected the movement to a state based system, whilst emphasizing the Irish identity of the provinces.

Politics

The Republic of The Free Irish States is a federal republic. The 'Oireachtas', the bicameral parliment of the republic, consists of the Upper House (the Senate)'Seanad Éireann' and a Lower House, 'Dáil Éireann'. The four traditional provinces of Ireland, (Ulster, Connacht, Munster and Leinster)now serve as the 'states' within the federal republic, with regional parliaments in Belfast, Galway, Cork and Dublin respectively.

The Republic of The Free Irish States is the current United Nations Delegate for the region of Keeryu. The Republic takes an active role in the Keeryu Regional Congress

Languages

Irish and English are the two offical state languages. English is the mostly widely used language on the island, but small Irish speaking region's (Gaeltacht), do exist, mostly in the west of the island.

National Anthem

The offical national anthem of the Republic is 'This Land is Your Land'. The nation's offical motto ('From the hills of Kerry, to the streets of Free Derry') is borrowed from the songs verse.

-Lyrics-

'This land is your land, This land is my land From the northern highlands, To the western islands. From the hills of Kerry, To the streets of Free Derry, This land was made for you and me

As I went walking, by the Shannon waters Hand in hand with my little daughter Hear the church bells ringing and the children singing This land was made for you and me

This land is your land, This land is my land From the northern highlands, To the western islands. From the hills of Kerry, To the streets of Free Derry, This land was made for you and me

I climbed the mountain By the crystal fountains And I heard a great roar From the rocky seashore Her eyes were gleaming, She said "Oh daddy" This land was made for you and me

This land is your land, This land is my land From the northern highlands, To the western islands. From the hills of Kerry, To the streets of Free Derry, This land was made for you and me

I walked her home by The old church steeple Proud of my country Proud of my people From the men who cried there To the men who died there singing that This land was made for you and me

This land is your land, This land is my land From the northern highlands, To the western islands. From the hills of Kerry, To the streets of Free Derry, This land was made for you and me'

Religion

The Republic is a mulitcultural society with no offical state religion, although the Roman Catholic branch of Christianity is extensively practiced throughout the nation.

The Republic's defence is the responsibility of the Irish Defence Forces (Óglaigh na hÉireann), comprising the Irish Army, the Irish Naval Service and the Irish Air Corps. The Irish Army Rangers are the special forces branch of the Irish Defence Force.
