Operation Icecap
In the beginning of 2004, the Nessic Armed Forces (another name for the SAF), executed a large offensive ground and aerial operation name Operation Icecap. On February 17th, 2004, 8 infantry and armored divisions crossed the White Line and advanced northwards and westwards in order to press out the DSRO and the small religious organizations. The SAF quickly achieved its objectives, and by March 7th, 2004, almost the entire territory was under the military’s control. DSRO camps were destroyed one-by-one by large ground raids and precise aerial bombardments. Entire fields were carpet-bombed by the Nessic bombers, and thousands of organization members found their death. The operation came to a halt when the DSRO propaganda office broadcasted the images of the “massacre” to the world. International pressure by Knootoss and other Atheist nations, made the Nessic government be more careful with their attacks, and some camps were not even attacked, but evacuated - Hundreds of thousands of DSRO members and their families, were evacuated peacefully, mostly to Knootoss, where some stayed even longer.

The Kelares Islands
The operation came to a halt when the DSRO propaganda office broadcasted the images of the “massacre” to the world and strong international pressure by Knootoss and other Atheist nations, made the Nessic government be more careful with their attacks. Some camps were not even attacked, but evacuated. Hundreds of thousands of DSRO members and their families, were evacuated peacefully, mostly to Knootoss to be officially 'disarmed'. Some stayed peacefully in Knootoss, whose government claimed to have succesfully disarmed the DSRO while at the same time saving innocent lives. Other members left the nation later on.
Kelares Islands are a group of tropical islands east of New Zealand. The islands were a territory once ruled by Rasmossen, but were taken by the SAF during the independence war. In the islands was the largest number of DSRO member outside of Ness Ziona, and following Operation Icecap, many more moved to the islands, and by the middle of 2004, the DSRO practically ruled the southern Kelares Islands, and had about 5,000,000 activists and supporters in that area.
+

The Nessic military knew the DSRO and its tactics, but the environment was different, and the 70,000 troop Nessic force was outnumbered by the number of DSRO members. As a result, the line created between the southern islands, full of DSRO camps, and the northern islands, full of Nessic camps, seemed more and more like an international border. This situation was named The Kelares War of Attrition. Every side tried to damage the enemy without crossing the ‘border’.
+
During the operation, Allen Van-Dijk was captured, and later handed over to Soviet Trasa, where he was executed. The Nessic operation ended on March 19th, 2004, with the return of the Nessic armed forces east of the White Line.
Finally, in November 2004, the silence was broken by attempts of the DSRO to throw the Nessic forces out of the islands, for good – The DSRO planned to turn the islands into a large DSRO base of operations. The war of attrition turned to an open war between Ness Ziona and the DSRO, again.

The Secular Resistance is a short name for the Democratic Secular resistance Organization, known by the acronym DSRO. The DSRO is an organization established for the purpose of freeing populations of religious oppression, and preventing theocratic nations from spreading their ideologies around the world.

Although many atheist nations do not support the DSRO, the organisation sees itself as an ambassador of atheism. Some nations, like Ness Ziona, The Opressive Church and Soviet Trasa, refer to the organization as a terrorist organization and nothing more. The organization leadership, though, empathized the importance of referring to the DSRO as a liberation organization of freedom fighters, dedicated for democratic causes and demanding religious freedom. The DSRO motto is "We Shall Prevail!", and one of it's most known images, is an image of the statue of liberty, holding a rifle:

The DSRO’s roots are deeply involved in the Nessic people’s struggle for independence. The Original DSRO operated in the territories occupied by Rasmossen, the theocratic nation which ruled Greenland. That old DSRO represented the demands of the Nessic people, that had been oppressed for being atheist ever since the Nessic civil-war of the 1860’s. The Organization fought the Rasmossian government between the 1955 and 1987, bombing government structures, military camps, federal offices, religious targets and important ports in Rasmossen- These attacks caused serious damage to the occupying government and resulted in the deaths of over 1,000 of Rasmossen’s troops. But no matter what it did, atheists were still hunted down and murdered under the theocratic rule.

1988 - 2002: Nessic War of Independence

In 1988, when the Nessic War of Independence (1988 - 2003) broke out, most of the old members of the DSRO fought under a different leadership, called SAF, the to-be armed forces of Ness Ziona. The remaining core of the DSRO moved to the north part of Greenland, and disappeared out of sight. The last time anyone heard from the DSRO members was in 1997, when few of them were killed trying to cross a river under fire, during the war.

The war ended in 2003, and the newborn nation, which was just released of the theocratic oppression, denied any connection to the DSRO, claiming it was “murderous” and that its attacks did not help the Nessic cause so much. The young leadership of the DSRO, which was in 2003 a tiny, powerless group of Atheists, denied, as a response, any connection to the Nessic nation, and stayed in the territories where the SAF never touched.

2003: war against religious organizations

Time passed, and a new leadership for the DSRO was chosen. The new leadership, lead by the Knootian immigrant Allen Van-Dijk and Tomas William Scott, was more idealistic and aggressive than the last one, and pulled more and more young men to join the organization. A few months after their takeover the organization’s stock consisted of thousands of rifles, tens of thousands of hand-guns, hundreds of grenades, tons of military explosives and even a few armored vehicles stolen from Nessic military bases.

The organization concentrated in hitting the remains of the Rasmossian military, which retreated to northern Greenland as the SAF advanced northwards. Their remains had grown quickly and, in a reversal of roles, became small terrorist organizations. The DSRO fought them in small wars and raids against their camps between the mountains, in a period of Ness Ziona’s history called The Northern War of Attrition.

The Nessic armed forces, though, did not like seeing the organizations battling on a Nessic territory, and every time fire broke out between the DSRO and one of the religious organizations, the SAF interfered and attacked both sides, killing both religious terrorists and DSRO members. This made the DSRO leadership furious and retalliation would come soon: three months after the 4th Nessic raid, a series of attacks rocked the nation of Ness Ziona.
