The Solen Navy is a branch of the Solen Military and has primary responsibility for water-based military operations. As of 2005, it consisted of 250’155 seamen on active duty, 150’397 in the Coast Guard and 110’000 in the Reserve. The reserve is primarily composed of part-time seamen who train for two months a year and once a week.

The modern Solen Navy has its roots in the English Navy and the warships the Excalibur had to protect its shipments from the pirates.

The navy is managed by the Ministry of Defence which is headed by the Defence Minister who heads administrative affairs. The highest ranking military officer in the navy is the Premier Admiral.

The initialism EXC designates English warships and means Excalibre (The Ship of Peril- Excaliur) in contrast to the Coast de Guarde ju Republique (Republican Coast Guard.)
