History of The Swamp

The story of The Swamp, which all at once is a tale of glory and honour, yet also one of sadness and tragedy can be summed up in one word: adventurous. The region has had many twists and turns in it's path, from the highest of high points to the very lowest of low ones. Here the chronicles of The Swamp will be depicted...

The name of the region "The Swamp" originally came from an out take gimmic of the clan on SkyLord known as "The Swarm". A clan that Pompey FC held much respect for, however at the time "The Swarm" was a taken clan name, therefore the clan was named "The Swamp" as it was the name closest to the preferred one that he could think of.

The Saga Begins

Before founding The Swamp, Pompey FC was a known and well respected member of the raider organisation known as Invaders. Having served at every level of the army, Pompey FC decided to retire from army work in September 2004; preferring to concentrate on furthering his political career in NationStates. However during what can only be described as a "cold winter" for the Invaders Army, Pompey FC signed up again in the early days of December 2004 and served as a Captain in his division.

It was on the 18th December 2004 when Pompey FC decided to leave Invaders and create a new raider region; having been "Points Man" for a successful raid with Invaders in "Corporate Islands". On 19th December 2005, Pompey FC left Invaders and founded The Swamp. He left on good terms with the region and with promises of support where ever needed, having served with the natives for nearly a year in various places.

Thus, The Swamp was born into the world of NationStates. She grew quickly as a region; 35 members after 3 days and over 60 members by the end of her first week (Co-incidentally, this fell upon Boxing Day, the day of rest after the Christmas period). The region grew enough to kindle the interests of the former Lazarus delegate Baribeau (RIP) who claimed The Swamp to be a "small region with a lot of potential".

Names soon came to the fore front of this exciting new region, so the Government had to be erected quickly, for without it The Swamp would possibly have descended into madness and chaos. After a week of discussion in the town hall of the forums, a system was decided upon: The Town Hall would be the meeting place for the Senate, open for all nations to join. The Senate would be the place for Members of the region to bring forward what changes they desired for the region. Then there would be the Council; made up of the Elected representatives from Foreign Affairs, Defence, Internal Affairs, The Founder and the UN Delegate. This Council would be in control of the region, using the Senate as an advisory body. The Council was later renamed to the S.N.A.F.T.O Council (Swamp Negotiatory And Free Trade Organisation) after a Role Playing suggestion by Roguetopia. Finally it was decided upon there being a Supreme Council, there to ensure that both the Senate and the Council were working for the betterment and in the best interests of The Swamp and not for themselves.

Just over a month after The Swamp became a reality of NationStates, the first ever general elections were finished. Faces emerged to lead the region, most noteable amongst these being the first ever UN Delegate; Lazy Farts, the Supreme Court Judges; Baribeau, Choong-Moo and Powershaft (RIP)' and the Head Senator; Ryes. Thus, as the winter slowly began it's upward turn to warmer weather, The Swamp appeared to be going from strenght to strength, having over 80 nations by the end of January...

The Fall Of An Empire

With the loss of many nations. And the loss of of half of its government staff The Swamp soon fell into a state of disrepair. The stagent region gradually lost more and more nations. A Short time later, there was talk that all remaining nations move to Invaders, a raiding org with many historical ties to The Swamp. PFC himself was a member of Invaders long before founding The Swamp. Soon after this Choong-Moo announced his "semi-retirement" stating that he would keep his nation alive, but no longer be a power. PFC issued a procimation that the talks had gone through and all nations should move to Invaders.

Well after much debating - Invaders has agreed to some terms that allows us to go over there very smoothly.

All Swamp nations with military experience to be integrated into the Invaders Army at a reasonable rank (to be decided by a council of 3 Marshalls) and citizenship status for all.

This is along with the fact that I am to become a General and will be leading the Invaders organisation.

Anyone here is free to join us over there - but there just isn't the time to recruit etc.. here. I'm sorry... it's turned from something brilliant into something of a failure. From 147 nations to 11, but we never really did recover from our griefing... perhaps one day we'll revisit this place and this adventure - but for now, it's over.
