What happened:Due to Mark Thomas Tondun's book, Fender Benderia exiled him, and his followers to the border. On May 17th 1929, Tondun declared his 3 towns(Tondun City, Twindawf, Balrston)independant.Fender Benderia did not recognize this, and thus started the war over the 80 km2 nation of Tondunland. At first, Tondunland fought well, adding another 80km2 to it's size. But then Fender Benderia leader Terry Jack Rilar built up his 'Mega Army', and brought Tondunland to it's heels, with major sucesses in the battles of Tallan's Deep, and Twindawf.Rilar's Mega Army matrched on Tondunland's final defence - the Cannonline, a line of cannon towers spaced 50 feet apart and 1/2 mile away from Tondun City. The Cannonline was designed to protect Tondun City from invasion, but Mark Tondun planned on the battle of Tallan's deep slowing down the Mega Army.Nevertheless, he went to battle with only 14 of 64 cannons functioanal, AND that could fire at the Mega Army.

On February 27th, 1926, Rilar's machine gunners charged for Tondun's army, unable to get a clear shot from their position. It would be the last move they made,as Tondun ordered his cannons to fire. All 5,000 machine gunners perished. And so began the Battle of the Cannonline. Then General Jim Wandekell of Fender Benderia ordered 10,000 Riflemen to slowly make progress for Tondun's army, picking off the soldiers one by one. Then, it was ready.

The Mega Armies cannons were now operational. They fired at the Cannonline.Meanwhile, in one of the cannon towers tens of seconds before the cannons were operational, Commander Timothy O'Birn stood idly waiting for a command to fire. His collague, Jacque Wratin was equally bored, and quietly took one of O'Birn's untied shoelaces, tied it to a piece of rope, and tied that to the piece of rope that fired the cannon."What the hell are you doing, Jacque?" Timothy asked, half-asleep. Jacque replied, "Uhhh, I am, ahhhhh, errrr....making one final defence, yes, that is it." Timothy said, "Ahhh, okay,"not really paying attention.Just then, a cannon skirted not one foot above Timothy's head.He yelled, and ran for the stairwell. The cannon fired and was squarely aimed at a box of gunpowder, near a bunch of cannonballs, which, in turn, were close to a cannon. The cannons were spaced 6 inches apart. As you can imagine, all cannons, cannonballs, and gunpowder in that line exploded, killing many Fender Benderian soldiers, including General Jim Wandekall, who was in charge.

This startled many of Fender Benderia's Riflemen, and Tondun fired his cannons at them, catching them unaware. The Mega Army retreated, while O'Birn and Wratin recieved the M.T.Tondun Independance War Medal of Honour, the highest honour then for a Tondunian. From there, Tondun started pushing back, re-claiming Twindawf, and Balrston. They even captured the major Fender Benderian city of Tallia City by December 5th, 1928.Then, Tondun suffered a heart attack, and died.Son Jeffery Gordon Tondun took over, and vowed to bring peace between Tondunland and Fender Benderia by July 1929.He was lucky, as T.J. Rilar was unhappy with how many of his people died, and managed to bring peace.Fender Benderia even gave him a land grant, but took back Tallia City as 'payment'.

And that`s the story of our independance.
