The YoungWorld

The YoungWorld was founded by Corinthes Phoenix in March 2004 and grew steadily. With over 600 nations, the YoungWorld was at one time one of NationStates' biggest regions.

After Carinthe let the founder nation die in late 2005, there was a sharp dropoff in region population. As it stands now, there are only around 140 nations in the region. Much of the population drop can be attributed to the death of puppet nations.

The YoungWorld Flag

The flag of TYW was created by Mexihco. The flag was proposed on Aug 03, 2006 and approved on Aug 10, 2006 by TYW Senate.

Description:

The flag was designed with the meaning of TYW since TYW is a Defender Region Mexihco used a Phoenix protecting the World with its wings. The Phoenix is a symbol of TYW so it was appropriate to use the Phoenix in the design.

Unique Region

The YoungWorld is one of few regions in NationStates to have a monetary system. Money can be earned several ways:

  • by posting in the forum
  • by opening a bank account and earning interest
  • by having a job (e.g. soldier, delegate, judge)
  • and many other ways.

Of course once a nation has earned money they will most likely want to spend it. Money can be spent on a great deal of things:

  • buying weapons and other products in one of the many shops
  • investing in the stock exchange
  • placing bets in the Bookmakers
  • having a go in the Casino
  • participating in TheYoungWorld lottery
  • visiting the arcade (to play the likes of Tetris & Space Invaders)
  • buying a virtual pet (and taking care of it)
  • or playing a game of Sudoku

Role Playing

The YoungWorld also has a long tradition of Role-playing. Threads tend to be epic, going on for weeks if not months and it can get a little heated at times. The YoungWorld has both Fantasy and Medieval RPs, as well as Furutristic and Modern ones.

Court

Should anything get out of hand and someone feels a wrong has been done on to them, then the Courts are there to sort it out.

Current Judges are Everminds, Welchyland 2, and Jeianga.

Random Humour

But it's not just about money and the courts. There's always something random going on, especially in the Spiral Staircase (Spam zone).

The most popular threads in the Staircase are the various incarnations of the 500 Club. The first 500 Club was formed in celebration of Scrivneria reaching 500 posts on the forum. Each subsequent 500 Club thread has been started by either Scrivneria or Laskon. The object of the 500 club is to get the thread to 976 posts, or just over 65 pages. Sam the Bartender is the official Club provider of any beverage that a 500 Club member desires.

Democracy

The YoungWorld is also a democractic region and a new Delegate is chosen every six weeks or so. For a long period Styrland was the Delegate winning three elections in a row before retiring from politics.

Military

The YoungWorld Defense Force claims to be "the best there has ever been in NationStates history", although that claim is disputed by other armies such as The DEN.

It never attacks other regions and has a long history of defending others who may be at the mercy of griefers and invaders. To that end, TYW recently applied and was accepted to the Alliance Defense Network, and have helped to wake the ADN from its recent slumber.
