The Fossatious Lands of Thespesia, or simply Thespesia, is a small, coastal nation in the southern Democratic Union.
Aside from its original borders, it has control over approximately one third of the coastal peninsula directly south of it. This territory is split evenly with Compopund-Complex and Kolios. It also has shared control of the State of the Three Republics with Eyygui and Compopund-Complex. Recently, a stretch of the nation's border with Tetris L-Shaped Block was converted into a neutral De-Militarized Zone as a result of a brief military skirmish.
History
Hundreds of years ago, in the land known as plot W, there were many small rival tribes. Because of there rivalry, they refused to unite and become a strong nation. They constantly lived in fear that the Fossa were going to come in and kill their children. One day an outcast from every single tribe came into contact with many a Fossa. He saw how they lived, hunted, and what made them fierce warriors. He then declared that his people of the great jungles would be united under the Pride of the Fossa.
The man would then go from tribe to tribe challenging their leaders, all the while using the name Great Fossa. He killed off one tribal leader after another until he was in control of every tribe in Thespesia. At this point he brought them all to the spot where he had first witnessed the Fossa and their lifestyle (which later would become the capitol city of Grand Fossa Haven). He said "YOU, men and women, are all like lost Fossa. I am the GRAND FOSSA, hear me. We shall learn to live together as the Fossa do. May we have the pride that they do!"
After three years of this the people had become equally fascinated with the Fossa and were extremely loyal to them, Thespesia, and most of all the Grand Fossa. Thus their original name was the Jingoistic States of Thespesia. When the Grand Fossa realized that there were Fossa living in Milk-and-Honey he was filled with envy. Wanting to make sure the Fossa species was unique to Thespesia, he made a military alliance with Compopund-Complex and Kolios to make sure they completely overran the struggling nation.
After a relatively short war against Milk-and-Honey and Abascalania, Thespesia and its allies were victorious. When the Grand Fossa returned to Grand Fossa Haven the Thespesian people went wild. After the war the economy, level of healthcare, and standard of living all rose sharply. The Fossatious Marker rose from a previous 40FS to the dollar to 4FS to the dollar.
A while later the people's pride and joy, the Fossa, was horribly mocked by republic of Xochipliacko. The Grand Fossa immediatley armed his forces and called all his allies (CC, Kolios, TGE, and Abascalania) to "overrun the mockery of a state". The Thespesian state has become far more economically stable after a prolonged period of refraining from conflicts within the DU. Although citizens aren't given a great deal of individual liberties, the government usually makes its decisions with the good of the people in mind.
During the Crusade of the Glorious Empire Thespesia saw that The Tetroid Nation was in Danger of being overrun so The Grand Fossa ordered troops and tanks to cross the border and secure positions in case of an invasion from TGE. After the war was over TLSB called foul and said our aggression must result in a DMZ or they would support terror attacks on Thespesian Soil. We submitted even though we had not fired a single bullet on TLSB soil.
Thespesian Delegates are tryin to pass a RUN resolution to end the DMZ.
Religion
Thespesia has a unique religion known as Fossaism. It revolves around the nations pride which is the Fossa. The head of the Fossaistic Church is known other than the Grand Fossa. over 95% of Thespesia is Fossaistic, the other 5 percent is made up of Floydist. Exicathism used to be allowed in The D plot but The Grand Fossa outlawed it once Abascalania became a Satanic State.
Culture
All of Thespesia's culure revolves around 3 things:
- The Grand Fossa
- The Fossa themselves
- The Fossatious Military, Airforce, and newly established Navy
