Thomasia is the oldest continually existing nation in the world of NationStates. Founded by Emperor Thomas I, now known as Lord Tom, having long since abdicated the throne, Thomasia is a very populous and industrious nation.
The government of Thomasia is unique in that it does not have much of a national government. Power is devolved to local districts, save for the power of justice, diplomacy, and war, which is handled by three ministers selected by the First Minister, chosen by acclamation of the local assemblies.
As a founding member of the Meritocracy, Thomasia is a proud member of the Meritocratic Senate, and has many accomplishments, including being involved in the creation of several regional governments, both directly, and indirectly.
