General
Tinis is a dynamic nation filled with many varied species of people. The citizenry and the government both lean left politically on most accounts and 90% of the laws are passed by popular referendum. The Union of Tinis is a member of the Furry Federation and one of its earliest members. The nation's lands are varried but trend tropical in most spots. Tinis has a fast growing but advanced elite military that uses cutting edge technology to defend that nation's populace. In addition, Tinis can errect a powerful energy barrier around the entire nation. This defense is called the Pattern Defense System. It is the second one ever built, with the origional being in the hands of the Furry Federation's founder, The Military Empire of Shikeishuu, who has the ability to use it to protect the entire Furry Federation from outside attack.
Government
The government of Tinis is split into four branches; The Chamber of Speakers, The Supreme Court, The National Auditor, and The Council of Commanders. The Chamber of Speakers proposes most legislation which is then either passed to the people for popular referendum or, in the case of financial related bills, is required a super majority vote to pass into law. The Supreme Court hears cases and performs judicial review of laws that come into question during the trials they hear. The National Auditor regularly audits the entire government and reports its findings to the populace of Tinis and occasionally calls for the impeachement of elected officials, provided they have sufficient evidence. The Council of Commanders oversee the military and law enforcement matters for Tinis, with the council also being made up of elected members, unless a vacancy is made, in which case the First Speaker of the Chamber of Speakers is allowed to provide a temporary replacement. The First Speaker is the head of state and only one of eight at large seats in the Chamber of Speakers. The other at large seats make up the upper chamber and are decided by the percentage win of the various political parties in the previous election.
Politics
There is also four political parties in Tinis: Union, Anti-Union, Socialist, and Nationalist. The lower chamber is elected every two years while all other major offices have elections every four.

History
Fifty five years ago, the five houses came to a distant part of the region of Furry and formed the Federation of Tinis. Each house governed an area and for a time it was good. The first house was the house of Dykon, proud warriors, mainly wolves, bears, and a few others. The second house was the house of Toson, populated mainly by peoples of the feline persuation, but also many avians and horses. The third house was the house of Genius, a house of intellectuals, skunks, badgers, and lizards of all types. The fourth house was the house of Epshar, raccoons, weasles, and foxes working togeather to control the information. The fifth house was the house of Izixs, populated by a menagery of all species, plus the rare dragon or other supposedly mythological type.
The second, third, and fourth houses had long lost their founders, and the first's found had left shortly before the founding of the origional federation. The founder of the fifth house, Izixs, remained with his house however, and was one of the architects of the origional Tinisan government, but only marginally so.
In 1964, an attempt was made by the fourth house to take control of the first using less than honorable tactics. When the fourth house's plan was revealed and crushed, the civil war was on. In order to regain her houses honor, Epolcia Zirin of the fourth house dueled with Dizmrad Chamblak of the first house on the floor of the federation senate and was killed after a long battle. Dizmrad left and lead the warriors of his house, along with ten thousand conscripts, against the fourth house, seeking to strike while they were still in disorder. The second and third houses, seeing an opportunity to gain power over the other houses, attacked Dizmrad's forces as they were begining to win their battle with the warriors of the fourth house. Dizmrad retreated while the second and third houses seized the fourth one's assets, lands, and citizenry.
Izixs called the representatives of the houses togeather at the senate in Arx. The second house put forth a representative of the fourth house, Venessa West, the one who had betrayed the efforts of the fourth house in their bid to take control of the first house that started the whole war. The second house believed they could control her due to her earlier betrayal, but it was not to be. Venessa West was a true patriot and had honestly disliked what her house was doing to the first. During the meeting, Dizmrad spoke with West and they agreed that Dizmrad would liberate the fourth house so that they could unite against the second and third. The negotiations between them and the other houses broke down shortly there after. Before everyone left, Izixs came before them and annonced to the nation that if any Tinisian shed the blood of another ever again, then the Federation of Tinis would be no more. The next day Izixs came before the people of Tinis again, and annonced that it was so ended.
Dizmrad did liberate the fourth house and they joined forces against the second and third. The first four houses began to rely less and less on their elite warriors as one by one each fell on the field of battle. Instead, poorly trained recruits replaced them with a hundred soldiers for every warior dead.
After a few more months of fighting, Izixs finally lead his house into battle. He and fifteen of the fifth house's elite warriors attacked the forces of both sides and disarmed them, killing no one in the process. Once again, Izixs called the leaders togeather and forced them to sign a peace treaty. Five days later another meeting was held and Izixs called upon them to dissolve their houses forever and form a new government or else he would personally destroy them all with not just the fifteen, but all ten thousand soldiers and fifty elite warriors under his command. After five months of negotiations, the Union of Tinis was born.
Izixs won election to the position of First Speaker easily, some even feared he'd bring the former parts of the fifth house back togeather and take over Tinis if he wasn't elected, while others campaigned against him with enthusiasim. Dizmrad barely lost the position of Supreme Commander of the Council of Commanders to Venessa West. Dizmrad rebuked his old ally and began to speak out against the Union. By the time of the next election, Dizmrad had founded the Anti-Union political party. Izixs, having already started the Union party, was challenged by Dizmrad for the position of First Speaker and barely went on to his second term. Various members of the third and fourth house soon after started the Socialist party. And the stage was set for the dynamics that lead to the quick expansion and developement of modern Tinis.
In recent times, Tinis has become ever increasingly involved in regional politics. At the time, the Union of Tinis was officially identified as being the the region known as Furry. In the 36th year of Tinis, the government of Tinis endorsed the now defunct nation of Venerable Prefectures for the UN delegateship, and endorsed their peaceful left of center agenda in matters involving the UN and regulation of the region. Occasionally the endorsement was revoked due to certain votes on proposals but usualy returned it in due time.
Then came the Invaders of DEN II, and shortly after, a host of Defenders. For a short time, the region of Furry was occupied by various factions and the official delegate changed hands several times. The defenders eventually drove out the DEN II forces and began to filter out themselves. But it the toll had been made. Venerable Prefectures soon after collapsed. And Tinis was pushed forward to be the new UN delegate for Furry. And for a time the government under Izixs and Union party control managed to continue the left of center policies that the Venerable Prefectures had followed with regards to the UN.
Then came the second and third invasions. The second invasion saw a reduced contingent of DEN II invaders who held the region for a short time but eventually reliquished it under the terms of the Global Summit. However, after the DEN II forces returned control of the UN offices to Tinis (the UN offices were still located at that point in the territory of the defunct Venerable Prefectures), and before Tinis could eject the remaining rouge forces from the region, the remaining forces attacked and seized the UN offices themselves under the flag of the Dark Axis Allies who wished to give credit to DEN II for their recent seizure of the Furry Delegateship.
Shortly after the DAA returned control back to Tinis, the government of Tinis unveiled a most masterful work of science and engineering. The Pattern Defense System (PDS) was deployed over Furry, isloating it from the outside. Soon afterwards, Tinis and forces from other nations in Furry drove out the DAA and reestablished local control over the entire region.
But this was not to be enough. Izixs contacted the various leaders of the nations of Furry and proposed an attempt at reclassification of the region for purposes of regional soverighty and defense under international law. The honarable leadership of The Military Empire of Shikeishuu suggested something one step better, the formation of the Furry Federation. With the blessings of several nations, including Tinis, who had suffered at the hands of the invaders, Shikeishuu founded the Furry Federation. Tinis donated the Pattern Defense System to Shikeishuu for the purposes of keeping the F.F. safe in times of crisis. As the F.F. was established, Shikeishuu named the Union of Tinis as acting chair for the F.F. After a short time, Izixs declared that Tinis would step down and the newly elected UN delegate, The Incorporated States of Shimandu, to take their place, and since then the chair of the F.F. council has been held by the regional UN delegate. Shikeishuu still holds veto power over F.F. decisions but has yet to use it.
The most recent election in Tinis had membership in the Furry Federation as a big issue, but the results turned out to be very pro-FF.
Tinis is also heavily involved in relief efforts and fighting against terrorist elements in the recently collapsed nation of Shimandu which used to exist in the land to the south west of Tinis.
